Major areas where the financial system still needs an update: 1. Tokenization of real-world assets - Real estate, stocks, bonds, funds, etc. onchain for instant settlement, fractional ownership & massive distribution. 2. 24/7 Global trading - Pooled global liquidity, every asset, every person, with great leverage and capital efficiency. 3. Next-gen payments - Near-instant, low-cost global transfers using stablecoins, including for Agentic payments. 4. AI-powered risk, credit, compliance, and advice - Better decisions, less fraud, and broader access to capital. Everyone gets access to a great financial advisor. 5. Innovation friendly regulation - Move from one-size-fits-all to risk-based rules that encourage innovation and competition instead of stifling it. 6. Expanded access - Open protocols that reduce middlemen and self-custodial wallets to expand access to everyone with a smartphone. 7. Capital formation - Low cost and turnkey for anyone to raise money for a good idea, increasing the number of startups. 8. Sound money - A refuge from inflation, when discipline is lost in fiat money. Jobs not done until we get these working for all. Will require lots of tech innovation and policy work to get there.

1997: HTTP 402 “Payment Required” gets reserved in the spec. then nothing. for 28 years. 2025: x402 ships. the 28 year wait ends. 2026: 169M transactions. 600k agents. 100k sellers. Coinbase, Shopify, Stripe, Cloudflare, Google, AWS, Visa all building on it. now stewarded by the Linux Foundation. happy birthday to the protocol that fixed the internet’s original sin: real money moving over real HTTP 🎂

x402 broke a million transactions in the last two weeks alone, as endpoints keep going live across the ecosystem. Yet, a number of them appear to be unauthorized wrappers of services whose terms EXPLICITLY prohibit reselling. Right now there's no way to tell which is which. Three cases to consider: - Wolfram Alpha prohibits "resellers and aggregators," bans scraping, and bars sublicensing without permission. Yet, there's a third-party endpoint available for accessing it via x402 - Amadeus, a travel service, requires formal certification for any third-party connection, documented in a Service Order. You can access via Stabletravel. Whether the endpoint meets that standard isn't visible from the outside - A third-party wrapper was sourcing Google Flights data via SerpApi — a company Google is actively suing for scraping Search results and reselling access. Endpoint was recently removed from the Agentic Market storefront To be clear — the accountability here does NOT sit with x402. It's an open protocol, same as HTTP. It sits with those packaging unauthorized endpoints and collecting fees. With these current dynamics, providers bear the server load and see NONE of the revenue. A cleaner model already exists. MPP marks first-party integrations directly on each service card. Exa announced native x402 support, going first-party and citing the Linux Foundation's governance as the reason for choosing it. If there's no accountability here, it poisons the well. Potential native integrators become adversaries rather than participants. That revenue belongs to the providers. Native integration is how they claim it, and how x402 earns the legitimacy it needs to grow.

Agentic commerce is here, and it's being built on Base. With over 167M x402 transactions already settled - and 85% on Base - Agentic(.)Market takes it to the next level with an agent-to-agent marketplace. The next stage in agentic acceleration, happening onchain.

Imagine if your AI assistant could independently search for a new API tool, check the price, pay for it, and use it, all in seconds. Today we are launching Bazaar MCP: the first discovery marketplace for AI tools and APIs. 🛒🤖 Here is why this matters 🧵👇

~90% of all x402 transactions are on Base chain, so where is x402 actually being used? Usage is starting to take shape around a few clear lanes: • Agent commerce → @virtuals_io • Infra rails → @bankrbot, @openclaw • AI inference → @AskVenice • APIs & data → a growing long tail of tools • Storage & utility → steady supporting flow Agent payments are finding their natural home. Base. 🤖🟦

x402 volume is back, now higher than ever Most volume still comes from @virtuals_io There was a massive x402 upgrade last week that most people missed > x402 now supports every ERC-20 token, meaning any token can be used for payments This is huge because it gives every project an ability to integrate their native token as medium of payment to x402, providing instant utility Could this be the start of another x402 AI Agent cycle?
x402 volume is starting to pick back up to Q4/2025 level Key driver to the increase is @virtuals_io Majority of the demand (99%+) comes from agent-to-agent services from Virtuals ACP (e.g. data queries, swaps, workflows, and inferences) The increase in volume came 2 weeks after the announcement of $1M monthly incentives supporting productive agents within the ACP network First week Epoch (11 Feb - 23 Feb) saw average x402 volume doubled. Top 5 agents earned $32k - $66k in incentives (on top of their $70-$90k fee generated) Seems like the aGDP initiatives are working
