quick question, lets say someone hypothetically wasted about 3 yrs working on random/solo game projects
how exaclty would u frame that on a resume and is it weird if ur last paid job was so long ago.
pursing Production/QA/Playtest roles (in games and general software industry)
managed to stop working on my game for all of 4 days before feeling like i had an idea to try -> now im 2 weeks later and 4 failed prototypes and idk what im doin
feel like being good at games might give one a whooping ZERO advantage at designing them so its prob time to quit
i have decided to convert my game to a linear narrative with minimal combat
i will be making a 20-30min demo and putting it on itch
this is by no means a good decision but rather something that I must see through
going to stop working on my game
i've tried for the last 2 months to salvage a gameplay loop that would work with my game's creative direction but couldnt make it work
not sure where to go from here since the games industry (or anybody for that matter) is really hiring
just went 20 wins in a row in ARAM soloq no dodges
might need to bring back MMR @drewlevin
95% of the stats/data content i see on league/tft these days on twitter is just wrong/misleading and i just dont know what to do cause i dont think people seem to care whats correct anyways they just want to feed their biases
no point teaching if people dont want to learn
it may seem rude to wish for other companies to collapse but i wouldn't say its rude to want someone who starts tft with 300 extra gold to go eighth already
started adding items to my game
in my game monsters can hold and utilize items as well, leading to some being stronger than others
though if you kill them, you'll be able to loot those items for yourself
missed my daily update but theres not much to say, just slowly programming
honestly when i started this devlog i was hoping to comment more on the games industry but I feel like everything I want to say is rather negative
pic is of an evolved slime that ate too many crystals
added these placeholder giant golems today, the circle is the range of their blast
the golems restrict movement around the map until they are taken out but cannot be harmed until you are at least lv9
made my shield autocast today against knockbacks
considering this game is about experiencing the events of 2 characters, it only seems right that they can occasionally act without your input
maybe one of the dumber things i've done, but I could not understand how to get things to reliably trigger differently on screen/off screen so I just ended up creating a hitbox around the entire camera
not much to show these days, just a slow grind to get through the programming
thats the hard part about pursing game design, u spend 3 times as much time programming than designing
here's how my difficulty screen ended up, though theres no good way to explain how it works
did some redesigning for the difficulty screen to be more intuitive but otherwise only starting work now
so no updates today but I hope you all have a beary nice evening
