My friend Natasha Gordon-Chipembere & her friend Yndia Lorick-Wilmot published a volume of writers from their yearly retreat in Costa Rica, Tengo Sed. They had a book launch @ the Free Black Women’s Library in Bed-Stuy & it was beautiful ✨

@AkiraDrake Along with a Puerto Rican landlord from nearby city, a developer from Atlanta, GA is up here in CT arguing that the response to predatory real estate is simply Latino & Black landlords and developers that "care" more their tenants and offer greater accountability. 🧐

Jason Alexander says he feared visiting Palestine as a Jew until 10 Palestinians protected him during an Israeli army raid in Ramallah “How much of a risk would I be taking as an American Jew walking into Palestinian cities? And Mohammed said, ‘The greatest dishonor that could happen to a religious Muslim is to allow harm to come to an invited guest’” “And he said, ‘Jason, if they had to, they’ll take a bullet for you.’ And what was so interesting about that trip is, we were having lunch in Ramallah with a bunch of actors and artists at a sort of outdoor restaurant” “And the Israeli army was conducting a raid on a bank that they thought had terrorist ties a couple blocks away. And they must have, to announce themselves, just shot into the air. And I remember 10 of those guys at the table surrounding me. And I went, ‘Oh my God, he wasn’t kidding. They’re not going to let me get hurt’”

For a long time there was an assumption that every state should have a publicly-owned research university offering graduate education in every field of scholarly inquiry. That assumption had been dying a slow death since 2008, but it is truly gone now.
"The University of Oregon is considering phasing out ... some or all of the master’s and doctoral programs offered in History, Romance Languages, Folklore, Comparative Literature, Classics, and German and Scandinavian" bit.ly/4eCYxvx

In the past seventy years, the U.S. has had one single month where Black unemployment was below 5%. This is why I, like others, consider the operations of the NAIRU as a form of racial politics. rooseveltforward.org/publica…
Update from me: 'Black Unemployment Hints at a Job Market in Worse Shape Than It Seems' was torn on this reacting hastily to a 1month u3 spike is borderline irresponsible - but the vibe shift on Diversity in Corp. America + data on college edu Black women shows the pain is real
