I was speaking to someone senior at Swiggy. The purpose of Noice is not higher margins. It's to make products so amazing that people come to Instamart to buy Noice, and don't go to other QC platforms. I like this approach.

This is Yr 5 of the Blume podcast. Grateful to be bringing you these amazing founder journeys. As the podcast aged through seasons and themes, the only pattern, ironically, was that the founders are each spinning in an Orbit of One. @BlumeVentures
Announcing One of One, the new avatar of the Blume podcast. Over four seasons, our podcast has covered X-Unicorns, compounding, winning beyond boundaries, and comebacks from near-death. The topics changed every season, but all our guests had one thing in common: Each of them was in a category of their own. So after four seasons, it finally has a name that says so. Our podcast is now One of One. Here's @BKartRed on the journey of the podcast, and why it has a new name. Episode 1 will be out next week on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Watch this space!

Have never got to the “why it always feels awesome” to see Zomato / Eternal win. Probably this is a potential reason. Of an underdog winning. Of someone written off again and again and again by folks in every room (been in them), writing his own playbook @deepigoyal. Of daring greatly. And perhaps, also, of Delhi / NCR coming through ;)
Fascinating how the chips have fallen in the Swiggy-Zomato casino table. The backstory behind these numbers is equally fascinating. In the halcyon days, there was only one arbiter in the India startup ecosystem - Softbank. Both Swiggy and Zomato campaigned vigorously to earn a mandate from Softbank - the tacit implication was that the startup blessed by Softbank would rule the market by the sheer gravitational force of capital concentration. Softbank chose Swiggy... and backed it with hundreds of millions. Zomato only had a few million in its bank...and no other VC would touch it because what is the point of trying to battle the king/king-maker? This apathy from private investors was the primary reason why Zomato went public! And the rest was history... I suspect that no one, not even Zomato, would have imagined this would be the denouement - a market cap 5X of Swiggy's.

moneycontrol.com/news/busine…. Tata trusts own 67% of tata sons. Profit of tata sons in normal year around 30000 cr. 67% belongs to Trusts ~20000 cr if fully distributed. It only spends 1500 cr on charity. Too small! Why are the trusts so parsimonious? Why is @Tatasons paying so little dividend to Trusts when it is 67% owned by a Trusts? Should spend a minimum of at least 10000 cr a year on charity. 50%, of its share of profits What is the point of being India’s biggest charity and giving away so little? Big problem with Big charities in India. Look at APF, huge earnings, small spending on charities. Should give away more. @AkshayaPatra is a Real Role Model, spends all its annual receipts, reduces Misery today Trusts shoukd spend more, reduce misery today. Not capitalise Misery by building huge corpus. Needs change.

Random late-night tinkering. 100 companies above $100 billion in the US 🇺🇸, and then a couple here in India. What other markets as dense? China 🇨🇳, but it’s yet to be proven if it can build truly mega-mega international companies. Had Alibaba and TikTok been let to 🚀 , this would have been very different, perhaps. Japan 🇯🇵, will take a lot to make a gigantic comeback, super hard policy interventions. That only leaves you with looking at Europe as a bloc 🇨🇭 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 🇬🇧 , and then, India. (& maybe UAE & Saudi spring a surprise in the next decade? But they’ll still need a larger TAM, massive talent inflow, and then well-trusted financial markets that don’t struggle with thin float) Hopefully our 🇮🇳 mega-mega-caps will arrive soon. Atleast 10 companies between $200 billion & $500 billion. Can see Reliance/Jio+ & Adani ++ getting there. After that, Bajaj finance? Some pharma companies? And after that, it’s down to all of us new-age companies that need to grow up fast and build the country!

Wow, what fantastic margin profile. If they can continue to find large groups like Adani or the dozens of family offices as they are right now to do capex, then they get to push much faster growth too. Premiumisation 101 continues to win 🇮🇳 🏆
LEELA PALACES Mgmnt Says - 2000 Cr revenue & 1000 Cr EBITDA in FY27 possible - Arq Biz at 100 crore in the near-term, 80% EBITDA flow-through - Margin guidance: 48-51% - FY30 revenue could double from FY27 levels
 - FY30 EBITDA target at 2,000 crore

“Small caps are trading at 32.5x earnings, while large caps are trading at 20–22x.” “However, large-cap indices include several low-growth or no-growth sectors, which can distort the headline valuation. Adjusting for this, the effective P/E for large caps could be closer to 28–30x.” “For small caps, P/E should always be evaluated in the context of earnings growth. This is where the PEG ratio becomes more relevant than standalone P/E.” “Based on expected FY28 earnings, small caps are trading at a PEG of 0.9, compared to 1.9 for large caps.” “Despite their higher P/E multiples, small caps appear more attractive relative to their expected earnings growth.” — Vikas Khemani (Co-Founder and CIO at Carnelian Asset Management and Advisors Pvt. Dear Delhi, Think before you bring in a dog, think 100x more than you’d for a human kid, & only then have one come home. And then if an unforeseen scenario you can’t take care, leave everything and find them a better home first, then go about life. Please 🙏🏼 Thank you 🐕

1. Started playing in non-competitive territory (read: new corridors), it was hard but paid off; built from scratch new destinations & got to market leadership there, @leverageedu now not just a winner but the only platform operating 360-degree across a bunch of new options 2. Massive AI-fication of business. For universities and agent partners last year. Now doing it for 2C customers, hospital partners et al @leveragecareers ++ the most exciting stuff is what we are building in-house for our teams @leverageedu to do better. AI analysis after every single counselling available to our Coaches now, like a Partner that makes you do better, every day and every moment. Lot lot lot to do here. 3. Brand caught up. Referrals caught up. Many years of work here. CACs saw decline. But we still prominent only in a few markets, 95% still fragmented and local peers do a better job. 4. Attachment rates of financial services and housing and insurance and other ancillary services went up, > leading to much better LTV on the same cost base, while also improving NPS. More productisation to do here. Not even halfway there. The past 6 months / this FY, have seen us: - focus 10x more on tech, LE-AI (our AI suite) starting to come into its own, right now interacting with P&L row by row; Vasu & Anna, agents at @leverageedu & @leveragecareers, are senior members of the exec team - focus 100x more on customer experience; building new categories, new destinations / corridors in our case, is very hard, as a marketplace, with Universities, Housing Providers, Banks, and even Sovereign Bodies on the other sides, negotiating with them, learning how they work across thousand of nuances, hard but once you do it >> big moat - efficiency on marketing; come to our HQ and you will see 100s of ad creatives x copies splattered all over, we experiment SO MUCH, mad effort here, that CPQL >>> is v imp to us; when we made significant wins, we pass a lot back to the customer - deep meaningful enterprise relationships, hard-won trust, now we are launching / co-creating programs of tomorrow with Universities around the world - get much better on our cash cycles, creating delight here is very important to us, the path to improving FCF will help - people; we are going through a period where we double down on folks that have given @leverageedu everything, have hard conversations with others where necessary, & also bring to the floor new senior talent that knows a bunch of stuff better than all of us - experimenting with some new GTMs, some new TAMs, early days but it’s keeping the nights busy! Right at the starting line. ONLY BEGUN.
Leverage Edu’s revenue jumps over 2X to Rs 364 Cr in FY26; turns EBITDA profitable ▪️Student placement services remained Leverage Edu’s largest revenue stream in FY26, contributing 77% of operating revenue. entrackr.com/fintrackr/lever…

Just 6 days of cash left. A funding round on the verge of collapse. And one night that could change everything. ⏳ In a conversation with Akshay Chaturvedi, Founder & CEO of Leverage Edu, and Vaibhav Vardhan, CEO of Inc42, he recounts the 12-hour overnight battle to save a funding deal. The term sheet was signed. Due diligence was done. Yet, the deal nearly fell apart at the final hurdle. With the clock ticking, he stayed up all night, negotiating until the investors came on board. By 6 AM, the round was back on track. The next morning, employees walked into work unaware of how close the startup had come to running out of runway. #Reels #Inc42 #fyp #Startups #Fundraising

And I remember bumping into Nitesh Tiwari Ji at a party hosted by Madhuri Dixit Ma’am few months later to that, & somehow the conversation came to this, and they were like .. “WHAATTT?!! It was YOU ..” … I’d honestly had zero idea it will blow up, but such is the fandom of Ranbir Kapoor. Such a sweet guy, to a total stranger me then. We ended up meeting much later, and laughed about this incident. Good full circle now as #Ramayana launches in the next few weeks. Def got to catch it first day 💣

I’ve taken a life bet that the future of work goes via the future of education tunnel. And that the future of ed tunnel, DOES INDEED STILL goes via the future of universities. BUT …. Of course the future of Universities has to be different! It needs to reinvent NOW. Here’s a quick take, 3 core components: 1. Critical Thinking Models 2. Research / Imagine / See the future, no Qs asked 3. Work-integrated / > the absolute tomorrow, so that you live to apply #1 and then thrive when the day for #2 comes 🩶
