Ok, I think I’ve found a library who are interested in carrying out this digitization project. I won’t say too much until it’s confirmed, but now we need someone at the National Archives of Egypt to reach out to for a collaboration. If you’ve ever done research involving the…

The Haley Stevens de facto un-endorsement of AES on CNN on Sunday now makes so much more sense. Her fiancée is voting MAGA (and has previously donated to Susan Collins).
It doesn't matter what happens next Tuesday. The correct candidate lost in the Michigan primary.

AI bros are accomplishing the impossible and making me want to side with Chomsky
Chomsky was wrong.
Researchers found your brain doesn’t store language the way every textbook since 1957 claims.
For decades, the undisputed rule of linguistics, led by Noam Chomsky, was that human language is hierarchical.
We were told our brains process language using complex "grammar trees." That we secretly build deep, abstract, mathematical rules in our heads before we speak.
This new paper proves that is completely wrong.
Researchers at Cornell University analyzed how people actually process and produce language in real time.
They found sequences. Linear chunks.
When we speak, we aren't calculating deep syntactic rules. We are just predicting the next most logical sequence of words based on the context of the words right before it.
We string linear chunks together.
If this sounds familiar, it should.
This is exactly how Large Language Models like ChatGPT work.
For years, critics have dismissed AI as "just a next-token predictor." They said it isn't truly intelligent because it doesn't understand deep grammatical hierarchies like humans do.
But this paper suggests humans don't use those hierarchies either.
We are just predicting the next chunk.
Language isn't a rigid tree of mathematical rules. It's a linear stream of contextual predictions.
We thought we were building AI to mimic the complexity of the human brain.
It turns out, the human brain was just running a simpler algorithm all along.

"His policies toward Gaza's civilians were not really repudiated by the opposition"
Not repudiated? My dude, they called him a cuck for letting aid into Gaza.
The Israeli election should bring home an uncomfortable reality for Americans: Netanyahu's Likud remains the largest party. Further, his policies toward Gaza's civilians were not really repudiated by the opposition. Aside from the Arab parties and Yair Golan, the opposition barely campaigned on Palestinian civilian deaths and suffering. This is a fundamental divergence between a majority of Americans and a majority of Israelis.

36hrs later, still not a shred of evidence to suggest anyone was killed in #Jordan's strikes except for 8 civilians.
Detailed imagery from targeted sites doesn't align with descriptions made by #Jordan.
Here's hoping some investigative journalists uncover the real truth.

The Wayback Machine risks becoming collateral damage in the fight against AI, writes Internet Archive founder Brewster Kahle in The Atlantic.
Blocking the Internet Archive won’t stop AI companies from scraping the web. But it can undermine a vital resource for journalists, researchers, and anyone seeking information that has disappeared or changed.

So Lana Nusseibeh is running purely off the back of her experience as UAE ambassador to the UN but repeatedly refuses to answer questions regarding her statements or actions regarding Sudan while she was Ambassador; just utterly ridiculous.
🇦🇪 NEW: Asked whether she would continue rejecting UN findings on the UAE’s role in fueling Sudan’s war if chosen to lead the United Nations, Lana Nusseibeh said questions about the UAE should be directed elsewhere.
During a UN town hall on Tuesday, Yona Diamond of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights, confronted Nusseibeh over her repeated denials of UAE weapons and support to Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), asking how she could lead an organization whose own findings she has rejected.
Nusseibeh, UAE’s Minister of State, responded that she had taken leave from her position as a UAE minister and declared: “I refer any questions about the UAE to the UAE representation.”
She then spent more than a minute outlining her commitment to ending Sudan’s war, calling it the “litmus test” for the next UN chief, without addressing her past denials or whether she accepted the UN’s findings.
