Trump is once again threatening Ukraine with an arms and intelligence blockade. This time, to stop Ukraine from targeting Russian energy infrastructure so that the US can buy Russian diesel. Britain and Europe must stay the course on this and resist Trump’s calls. The threat from Russia is existential for us.

I’ve known @EdwardJDavey for decades, like him personally & twice voted for him to be @LibDems leader. But I honestly don’t understand why he has such a blindspot on this: his definition of equality simply brushes aside the concerns of women about male bodies in their spaces
Replying to @DailyMail
Here’s Ed Davey’s explanation, and it’s worth listening to. But he isn’t thinking of it from a woman’s point of view is he. He doesn’t seem to get it at all.

Well said @hollowood_zoe
Imagine going before a party conference where most delegates are militantly pro-trans and putting the case for biological reality and women's rights. That takes real guts. Bravo, @hollowood_zoe. We are in different parties, but I applaud your courage.

I despair. Outrageous.
Thank you to @hope_sapphire for shining a light on the shenanigans at conference. Tomorrow will bring a motion that takes a sledgehammer to women's rights. This is an act of supreme self-harm for the Party and an act of vandalism to women's equality. telegraph.co.uk/politics/202…

The wording of the motion demonstrates no understanding of UK Equality law, the relationship between the EA and the Codes of Practice or the needs and rights of many women who need and rely on sex based exceptions.
Wondering where the trans motion was on this year's @LibDems Autumn conference agenda? Well it arrived today! In the form of an emergency motion. Two of five emergency motions will be selected so it stands a good chance. All the bangers. TWAW, TMAM, self-ID etc 1/2

Lots of consternation today, quite rightly, about the £72m crypto donations to Reform from Delo + Harbourne. Don't forget that Paul Marshall + his business partners have sunk £131m into GB News so far. The £s spent to get a Reform gov't will be in the hundreds of millions by 2029

Struth! Like Reform, these people can’t stay together for more than 5 minutes. If it wasn’t so serious it would be hilarious.

A few months ago the Conservatives campaigned in council by-elections to stop new housing on the Broke Hill site in Halstead, and the Oasis Academy site in Hextable. This month, their new Local Plan gives the green light to 810 homes at Broke Hill and 78 at Oasis Academy. You simply cannot trust the Conservatives to keep their promises. Back in March, Liberal Democrat councillors asked the Conservatives running Sevenoaks District Council for urgent cross-party talks on their housing plans — plans residents had rejected in near-unanimous and unprecedented numbers. More than three months later, the Conservative leader still hasn't even replied. Worse, councillors weren't involved in drawing up the plans at all — at a key committee meeting they weren't even allowed to comment on the consultation, and were told to be grateful for the "courtesy" of being informed of the results. No dialogue, no collaboration, no proper consultation with the residents' associations, parish councils and campaign groups who know our communities best. We all agree Sevenoaks needs new and affordable homes — but only if they come with the transport, health and education to support them. On Monday 22 June, the Conservatives publish their next version of the plan. Read the Liberal Democrats' full response here: sevenoakslibdems.org.uk/seve…

"Get the two council leaders together and find a way forward for the Stag" — Cllr Alan Leaman, Lib Dem group leader. A cross-party Finance Committee has now told the Conservative Cabinet to negotiate. Common sense over dogma, with 7,500+ residents behind it. More 👇 sevenoakslibdems.org.uk/news…

£120m is being spent on Sevenoaks town centre. The original vision has been scaled back. The leisure centre could close before a new one is built. And the Council won’t say why. We’re demanding answers. sevenoakslibdems.org.uk/news…

No, @HarrietHarman, the point wasn't whether Jenni Murray's 'engagement' with the 'trans issue' 'took away' from her decades of work. It was that she was indeed shunned & abandoned by those like the BBC & yourself who should have stood firmly with her. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002t1…

⏰ LESS THAN 48 HOURS LEFT — the petition closes at midnight tomorrow. Please sign and share! The Stag Community Theatre has been the heart of Sevenoaks arts and culture since 2009. But with local government reorganisation on the way, there's a real risk it could be transferred to a distant authority — and we've seen what happens next. Community venues get sold off, and they're gone for good. Sevenoaks District Council's own Finance Committee has recommended the freehold stays local. Let's make sure that recommendation is heard loud and clear. 👉 Sign the petition here: change.org/p/petition-for-sd… Share this post with every Sevenoaks friend, neighbour and family member you can — every signature counts. 🎭
