Terrible tackle by St Johnstone player. Whole stadium goes ‘oooh’. Referee doesn’t even give a foul. Called over by VAR to check. Red card. Everybody in the STADIUM knew it was a red immediately…bar the referee 🤦‍♂️

Many of the replies here are why Celtic By Numbers was something i felt wanted to do Data doesn't "prove" everything in football because there is so much uncaptured based on conventional metrics Therefore one must stay humble as regard conclusions drawn That works both ways
Murray has played 1614mins in 6 seasons. In contrast Donovan has played 2267 in 2. 56% of Murray’s have been against Rangers, Hearts or in Europe. Murray has never started alongside CCV. Despite some fan’s views to the contrary he’s not had a proper chance yet to be judged.

Hammer Scotland, get hammered in Europe. Why are Celtic so different against better teams? 🍀 McGregor’s 37km, the right-side hole, and Sorensen set up to fail. Extra Time is out 👇 @Alan_Morrison67 @jucojames

To those who measure success by 7 goal hammerings of Scottish sides and League Cup wins, Anthony is talking gibberish But grown up benchmarks are needed
In the summer it was revealed that Celtic had finalised a long-term strategy "to be the best club in Scotland, to be financially sound and to compete in Europe". Is this anything different to what it was before? Aren't there specific targets to reach in the #UEL that are different from the #UCL? Success becomes subjective if the generic message is just to "compete". Unless the club are automatically in the Champions League they don't seem to invest for Europe. When they were knocked out UCL play-offs to LASK Linz, spending basically stopped - just Joel van den Berg was bought. The rest of the squad was patched up by loans and one free transfer. They haven't 'competed' in the Europa League/UEFA Cup for 22 years, when they last won a knockout tie. This is a tournament where Celtic do have the financial muscle to go far in, but they don't really push the boat out on signings if they're out of the UCL. While success in the UCL can be measured by getting out of the League Phase, the target should be different for the Europa League - not the same. Two seasons ago Celtic were in the knockouts of the UCL, last season it was the knockouts of the UEL and this season they are on course to not make it out of the UEL League Phase - this is constant regression. Celtic need a long-term strategy that puts European football - and specific targets to monitor success in it - at the forefront of everything they do, before they become a total nonentity outside of Scotland.

The point being: as tonight the average xG per shot from Celta was stupidly low HOWEVER: the more shots you allow, the more chance the variance monster chews yer sorry ass And yes, structurally against the ball, Celtic are terrible - and that's on coaching
Celtic have conceded 257 shots at goal in first 16 games this season. 42 shots at goal in the last 2 games alone. We are RIDICULOUSLY easy to play against, committing the same mistakes game after game. A dysfunctional board which saps the life out of the fans. Dire. #CELCLT 🍀

@ anyone who understands the game of association football is it good when this keeps happening
Our most pointless and utterly futile European campaign ever. Little chance of getting points and never make enough meaningful change to learn anything from them. We’re just a gussied-up training drill for any halfway-decently coached team at this level

An excellent article by Stephen McGowan. Murray is trying to re-write history, but the truth is that David Murray destroyed Rangers. He is to blame for Rangers demise and all the woes the club has endured. Is his legacy simply a tax dodger who got away with it at the club's expense? 🤔
Man City scandal tip of the iceberg as football erodes from the top || Stephen McGowan "In Scotland people know how toxic the stench of scandal can be. Fourteen years have passed since Employee Benefits Trusts and side letters entered the national vocabulary and Rangers fell off a financial cliff. The bitter scars from those events still weep, angry and raw. "Former Ibrox chairman Sir David Murray popped up on the podcast Graeme Souness Tackles the other week to rouse sleeping dogs from their slumber. "Murray used his recent autobiography to appeal to Rangers supporters to remember him only for the good times. He was pushing the same line on the podcast, telling old mucker Souness that the Ibrox club were ‘targeted’ by an HMRC witch hunt. “'It hurts me very badly,' said Murray. 'Okay, I’m remembered for the end, but I would like to think I’m remembered for Laudrup, Gascoigne and 35 trophies.' "A bit like the captain of the Titanic asking people to remember him for a smooth push-off at Southampton, Murray knows better than anyone why HMRC used Rangers as a high-profile test case. "EBT arrangements were used between 2001 and 2010 as a form of disguised remuneration to avoid tax and national insurance contributions on player earnings. In 2017 even he had to admit that EBTs and the non-disclosure of side letters to the SFA or the SPL gave Rangers the ‘opportunity to get players that we perhaps would not be able to afford”. "While some still get misty eyed over Gazza and nine-in-a-row, then, plenty of Rangers fans blame the former owner for Craig Whyte, administration, Charles Green, Mike Ashley, liquidation, Sevco, Duff and Phelps and the recurring issues which led to just three trophies in 14 years. That’s David Murray’s legacy right there." 👇 𝘐𝘔𝘈𝘎𝘌: 𝘈𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘸 𝘔𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘯/𝘗𝘈 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘷𝘦/𝘗𝘈 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴

Hearts had more possession. More shots. And lost 7-1. 🍀 We dig into why, with xG, packing, Osmand’s breakout and the Germany-Brazil parallel. Plus: was anything actually fixed before Celta Vigo? @jucojames @Alan_Morrison67 LINK BELOW.

The irony being Celtic's defence is as open as a very open thing that never closes whilst Hearts' attack is not all that and been heavily boosted by penalties and opponent red cards It was Tony Bloom incidentally that monetised the fact the league table DOES indeed lie
Heart of Midlothian can close the gap to two points between the top three with a win at Celtic Park. It is the meeting of the best defence v the best attack. How the Scottish Premiership looks ahead of today's fixture... heartsstandard.co.uk/news/26…
