Episode 2 is a deeply painful watch on the #Minab strikes. Mahdieh and Amin’s mother recalls the horror - “On my way there, there was a pickup truck filled with children's bodies, all in girls’ clothes... I knew no one would come out from the rubble alive.”youtu.be/iF1663_LL_I?si=WZLD…

An obvious thread: all human life is equally valuable, recognisable and equally worthy of care, protection, love and mourning. Dehumanisation rests on destroying the capacity to feel vulnerability and grief for others. Algorithmic warfare is nothing new.

And, I would add, there is so much more to be written and explored still on how the dawn of algorithmic warfare in military operations is making it a far harder task to collectively conceive of this, and to challenge, eroding our ability to bear witness and demand accountability.

But. Rather than treating a threat (from an “other”) as a reason to wage war, what would it mean to use our shared exposure to these harms as the foundation for global non-violence? How might recognising each of our own vulnerabilities lead us to a deeper understanding of others?

#Yemen

“Such intelligence failures suggest that not all civilian casualties are unavoidable tragedies; some deaths could be prevented if the coalition recognizes its past failures and changes its operating assumptions accordingly.” Appalling this was a decade ago.nytimes.com/interactive/2017…
