A closer look at the markings. Note the "AHM-XXX" after "MISSILE, GUIDED BLACKBEARD". Presumably, this denotes that the live variant of the Blackbeard will receive an MDS Designation beginning with AHM, where "A" indicates that it's air-launched, "H" that it is hypersonic (high-speed), and M that it's a guided missile.
The only other weapon currently known to have an MDS designation beginning with AHM is the AHM-4A HACM (Hypersonic Attack Cruise Missile).
🇺🇸 Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle received a tour of several sites around NAS Patuxent River during his visit on Oct. 28, 2026, including a briefing of the Navy's Blackbeard air-launched, long-range hypersonic strike missile. An inert variant of the Blackbeard used for captive-carry flight tests is seen here under the starboard wing of an F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 23.

U.S. Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle views the new Blackbeard hyper-sonic air-launched missile. NAS Patuxent River, Oct 28, 2026. Apparently the casing material of the weapon itself enhances the explosive payload, making a “Reactive Material Warhead"

It's Huntin' Season! 🍂
Doesn't the F-15E Strike Eagle look good in its special camo? Especially with the autumn colours appearing around RAF Lakenheath! 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Happy to have caught it returning yesterday after its low level sortie 📸
