Some, but not all. The analogy people love to make is a Ferrari and Volkswagen. “The Ferrari and Volkswagen both go 0-to-60, but the Ferrari can do it in 2.5 seconds while the Volkswagen takes 4”
I find that to be an incomplete analogy. The Ferrari’s goal is likely to go from 0-to-210 in 4.5 seconds while the Volkswagen goes from 0-to-170 in 4.8 seconds. The Ferrari, intuitively, has a higher top speed (bat speed in this analogy) and gets there quicker (swing acceleration)
HOWEVER, this isn’t always true. Imagine a Lexus that can go from 0-to-170 in only 3.9 seconds. Lower top speed, but crazy acceleration. That’s a hitter with a low bat speed but elite swing acceleration, letting them start their swing later to reach max speed, giving them more reaction time, letting them make better swing decisions and pitch selections.
It is unfortunately a stat currently unavailable to the masses, but I believe that the Brewers are optimizing swing acceleration. This article from a couple years ago seems to imply that Brice Turang is the biggest Lexus in baseball, the biggest outlier of elite swing acceleration with low bat speed

I don’t think it’s a bat speed thing per se, I think it’s due to their high swing acceleration. THAT’S what lets them play passive while still making well-timed contact

Worst World Series MVP in baseball history by WPA (and just one of two with a negative WPA)
Should’ve been a joint MVP for Davis/Hochevar/Madson

The baseball playoffs are the most random playoffs in sports. Any given team can win a short series
The Rays won a pennant with the majority of their lineup being atrocious, and their entire rotation outperforming their expected stats
Sometimes a team just happens to win, and another just happens to lose

Good time to mention that Zack Wheeler is 20th among pitchers is postseason WPA!

This is sick! Is there any way to add a gradient to each line to denote how quickly his glove moves on each catch?
