Most of the proposed measures to tackle the energy crisis treat all segments of the market equally. That is very wasteful. It means providing less for those who really need it, and giving relatively trivial sums to those donāt.
Next, the daily standing charge is an anachronism that means that the average cost per unit of energy is far higher for the less well off than the rich.
I would also like to see a dramatic increase in the minimum wage. Calling it a āliving wageā is farcical. I canāt believe it is only Ā£9.50.
