Datan algal reef has lead us (at least me) to a dimension that I never thought of. It is not just a simple conservation effort, but more importantly, it becomes a truly democratic procedure that only happened now in Taiwan.

What is democracy? This is democracy! We, Taiwanese, should be proud of ourselves-we can vote for the earth, the ocean, and the environment. Who else in Asia could reach our back? No one! No one!

yes, the distance between love and hate ITS2 is infinite..the worse thing is the blackbox analytic tool...
Here's a great reminder that #Symbiodiniaceae rDNA copy number varies tremendously (>10x!) from species to species: important to calibrate when interpreting qPCR or NGS data on relative abundances in corals. I continue to love to hate / hate to love ITS2.

Congrat to Prof. Glynn. Thank you very much to ride me a free taxi when I were a fresh PhD and looked for career chance at Panama ICRS meeting in 1996. Although it was a short conversation, it is still a great message to inspire me today.
Great chance to celebrate the career of my former PhD advisor, Peter Glynn at the #GlynnSymposium #coralreefs #RosenstielSchool @UMiamiRSMAS
This sad story reminds me what was happened in Taiwan in 1947, Feb. 28 and the following 40-year white terror.

The Cocos (Keeling) Islands - one of Australia's lessor known natural wonders. Policies to mitigate the climate crisis are urgently needed to safeguard the livelihoods of the people and marine life that call this isolated atoll home. #coralhealth #foodsecurity #marinetourism
Datan Algal Reef is a biotic reef full of marine life. Listen to the three volunteers, you will know why were there 300 volunteers stepping out to protect it!

We gathered at the Datan algal reef to celebrate the first Hope Spot in the East Asia. We wished the granddaughter of Mr. Pan, who is born on May 19, 2019, will still have a chance to enjoy this spot when she grows up!
