There are 8000 people in our Facebook group. At least half of them have probably been told their child is 'fine in school.' But if their parent tells you that they meltdown as soon as they get out of school, they are not fine in school. #WRH2021
“We have parents, particularly parents of girls, who are fighting the system, a battle, because their girls ‘seem fine’.” @AutisticGirls_ discussing the need for schools, workplaces and local authorities to provide training to help recognise neurodivergence #WRH2021

It's important to have a good understanding of interoception if you want to have a good understanding of autism, and as the article explains it's helpful for all of us to improve our interoceptive awareness. theguardian.com/science/2021…

Despite the SEN Code of Practice saying extra planning and preparation is needed, most #autistic children in this survey were not offered any extra transition preparation to their peers. It's a difficult year for schools, but that means it's MORE difficult for autistic pupils.
It's almost time for the new school term to start, and if you have an autistic 11 yr old, we're wondering what your transition experiences are. Please RT.
