Hello, I’m Veronica — caregiver, wife, mama, and someone who believes deeply in serving others with compassion and dignity. 🤍 My caregiving journey began in the most personal way when my grandfather suffered his third stroke and I became his primary caregiver. What started as helping family quickly became my calling. Walking with him through that season opened my eyes to how powerful love, patience, and presence truly are — and it changed the direction of my life forever. Over the past 10+ years, I’ve gained hands-on experience specializing in dementia and hospice care, supporting individuals from mild to severe stages. Before working with seniors full-time, I worked as a medical assistant in a pediatric clinic and later as a care aide and medication technician in assisted living. Each role shaped the caregiver I am today — one who leads with empathy, respect, and consistency. Today I serve families in Las Vegas while also being a devoted wife and raising my little one. Balancing motherhood with caregiving has taught me even more about patience, understanding, and unconditional love. My biggest dream is to open my own affordable, family-oriented residential care home — a place where seniors feel safe, valued, and truly at home, and where families know their loved ones are being cared for with heart, not just routine. This page is here to support fellow caregivers, find resources and share real-life experiences 🤍

For many Southern California families, paying for childcare means draining their savings or racking up credit card debt. In L.A. County, childcare takes up nearly 20% of a median household income. Families who earn too much for subsidies say they're putting groceries, power bills, and medical expenses on credit cards just to keep up. laist.com/news/education/ear…

A recent study reveals that women in the US now spend an average of 7.1 years of their adult lives caring for older relatives and friends, compared to 4.2 years for men. While men's caregiving years remained steady between 2011 and 2023, women’s expected caregiving time grew by a full year. Gaps may grow even wider as older adults are more likely to lack close kin. Feeling powerless when aging parents reject your caregiving help is common. As long as adults understand the consequences of their choices, the law generally considers them competent. That means they have the right to take risks and even delay medical visits or lab work, even when it worries you. aarp.org/caregiving/basics/j…

Shorter days keep older adults indoors more often, making this a good time to check homes for safety. Falls are the leading cause of injury among adults 65 and older, and more than one in four report falling each year. A careful walk-through can reduce many everyday risks before a close call. prnewswire.com/news-releases…

Happy Monday! 💜🌸 To every caregiver starting another week, remember this: You can love what you do and still feel tired doing it. Both feelings are real, and both are okay.

An elderly Louisiana couple's accounts showed 61 ATM withdrawals totaling $61K. Their caregiver Latoya Chalmers told police the cash was payment for her work, but one victim said she was only allowed to buy groceries and meds. A judge signed a warrant for theft and elder exploitation. Police are still looking for her. yahoo.com/news/us/articles/l…

I’ve sat with so many families who ask that exact “why him?” question. After a while you realize there’s no perfect answer that makes the stroke or the dementia feel fair. What helps most is just being honest about how hard it is and focusing on the small ways we can still make their day a little better.
Family #Caregivers Wonder Why Their Relatives Suffer: They are not just looking for a medical reason. They are looking for a spiritual or philosophical one. Why do humans suffer? Why am I suffering? For whatever answer they arrive at, acceptance is key aarp.org/caregiving/basics/c…

Eldest daughters often end up with the bulk of family caregiving—the so-called “daughter tax.” They’re nearly twice as likely as sons to provide hands-on care, and nearly half of caregivers feel resentment toward a sibling over the unfair load. Many also organize funerals and settle estates after a parent dies. usatoday.com/story/life/heal…

Many seniors on Medicare have little to no dental coverage. So they stop going to the dentist. Yet there are so many health problems associated with bad teeth. Talk to your Mom and Dad about the importance of good dental hygiene.
