Not only was he a great actor he was a progressive activist who supported LGBTQ rights, universal healthcare, destigmatizing mental health issues, and was fiercely opposed to nationalism. He truly lived the ideals of Star Trek.

We're proud to share that in a few weeks' time, Rockstar staff will get to have their own say over union recognition. From pay and pensions to parental leave and overtime, this recognition agreement is a chance for workers to be involved in the decisions that shape their lives.

You don't need to understand portuguese, you can understand just how thoroughly she destroyed him by the reaction of the women behind her.
That's the trans congresswoman I posted about.

Never have the evil among us held so much wealth and power, or such technology to spread and weaponize disinformation in service of other evil. It’s one of the most dystopian aspects of the modern era.

!!!!! this is why hayley is the goat. merch designers more often than not will just get a flat $500 payment, and that’s the end of it. for her to advocate for (and action!) fairer payments/royalties is v big-hearted. looking out for the little guy is punk!!!!
💬 hayley williams talking about paying royalties to tour merchandise designers and supporting fan artists during her brain freeze interview with common revolt:
tyler common: in a world of like generative ai, all this bullshit, you've started giving royalties to the people that have worked on your merch and you've just have hired fans and stuff, which i think is incredible and it's something that's if anyone doesn't know, royalties for merch is not normal. i think that's so cool. i guess what was your like thought process in doing that and also why don't more artists do that?
hayley williams: it should be normal. it really should be normal, because that t-shirt exists in perpetuity. like that design is there. and you know, growing up in that world, it was like sometimes it's like 500 bucks to a designer, and then you go sell, especially if your band's doing well, you're selling tens of thousands of dollars. sometimes you're selling more than that. it just doesn't feel fair. i get a royalty for the songs that i write. you know, that's a whole other conversation. but i think it should be the norm. i think it should be an industry-wide switch-up that needs to happen. and you know, i haven't done a whole lot of campaigning around it, but i'm trying to do the work behind it.

So if I purchase a DVD and digitize it, that’s copyright infringement. But if an AI company buys my book and scans it to train their system, that’s perfectly fine? Once again, corporations are allowed to play by their own rules. I’m so sick of the hypocrisy.

“La shukra ala wajeb.” There is no thanks for a duty.
@macklemore reminds us that speaking out against genocide is simply basic humanity. Every artist and celebrity who stays silent is a cog in the nightmare machine, normalizing barbarism for self-preservation
