I am growing increasingly concerned about the conduct of this department. The Madlanga Commission must look into it when it resumes, as something is fundamentally amiss.
This is the same department under whose final responsibility IDAC falls, IDAC which operated unchecked and outside its mandate under their supervision.
The Minister is attending the fundraising event in her official capacity, which is permitted. It is important for government to maintain strong relationships with faith based organisations and other community structures, given the important role they play in supporting communities and addressing social challenges. It is also important to clarify that the church hosting the event is not the Minister’s church.

Minister Kubayi will appoint a legal team in her personal capacity. As the custodian of the State Attorney Policy, the Minister is fully aware of its provisions and has responsibility to ensure compliance.
From the outset, the Minister understood that the policy does not provide for State funded legal representation in matters of this nature. Accordingly, the legal costs associated with the proceedings will not be paid by the state.
Further details regarding the legal proceedings will be communicated once the court papers have been filed.
