The Gotham Awards often pulls international awards contenders out of the standard nominations & award them special honors instead. The Vanguard Tribute is a huge recognition that elevates their Oscar profile just as much as (if not more than) a standard nomination. #LaBolaNegra

Considering that LA BOLA NEGRA was not eligible for Best Feature due to that category's U.S.-based creator requirements, this is indeed an honor. #LaBolaNegra

The stretch of Riverside Drive near Columbia University NYC where Lorca's family lived after they left Spain in 1940. They lived n #448, then in #464. It's a nice walk from where I live on the UWS. LA BOLA NEGRA & the late love poems were kept here until 1969. #LaBolaNegra

Beautiful piece. #LaBolaNegra "By the time Rafael tells Sebastián that 'nobody disappears forever,' the line has accumulated far more meaning than either character could possibly know..."

It's one of the great ironies in the aftermath of Lorca's murder that Salvador Dali (a close friend & possible lover of Lorca) denied to his dying day the political & homophobic motive established by Gibson. Dali always insisted that it was a personal vendetta. #LaBolaNegra

So very few traditional casa de comidas are left in Madrid these days. I remember when they were quite common. LA NIETA in Chueca is another old-school establishment I go to. How long will these establishments last? Nostalgia.

#Lorca #LaBolaNegra

Cine Carretas in 13 Calle Carretas, between Puerta del Sol & Plaza Jacinto Benavente, Madrid. Sebastián meets his "cousin" here. Founded in 1935, it was a popular gay cruising spot in the Franco era. Why? Because the lights were seldom turned on in this cinema. 😁 #LaBolaNegra
