Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the Indigenous children who were taken from their families through the residential school system, including those who never returned home. This day calls on all of us to learn the truths of Canada's colonial history and to reflect on the lasting effects of residential schools that continue to affect First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples today. We must commit to reconciliation by supporting Indigenous rights, advancing equity and building respectful relationships grounded in truth, accountability, partnership and meaningful action.
