I testified before Congress this morning that “#ChristianNationalism often overlaps with and provides cover for white supremacy and racial subjugation.”
Thank you @RepRaskin for the chance to highlight the work of Christians Against Christian Nationalism.
Amanda Tyler testimony to Congress on Christian nationalism
Christian nationalism helped fuel the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, uniting disparate actors and infusing their political cause with religious fervor.

I'm grateful for the strong advocacy of @RepLloydDoggett for public education and for shining a light on how this private school voucher scheme, opposed by majorities across the country, has been added to this mega bill at the 11th hour.
Among the many horrors, Republicans snuck a $20 billion voucher scheme into their tax bill—despite voters rejecting such plans every time they’ve been on the ballot.
In hour 15 of debate, I opposed the GOP's shameful attempt to defund public schools and divert resources from students and teachers who need it most.
Most education policy is set by states, but eliminating the Dept. of Education would devastate programs kids rely on — from school lunches to religious freedom protections. Holly and I have more on Respecting Religion:

An administration that has spent its first two weeks scrubbing offices focused on understanding and overcoming bias launches a new program today, focused on rooting out "anti-Christian bias." Here’s my statement for @BJContheHill 1/4 whitehouse.gov/presidential-…
Today's action is consistent with inflaming the completely unfounded claims of rampant Christian persecution in a majority-Christian nation. 3/4

In its simplest terms, the apparent demise of #USAID is the result of the world's richest man ending a program that helps millions of poor people. You don't need a Ph.D. in moral theology to see why this is an evil. You can just read Jesus's parables on the rich and the poor.
Why did @BJContheHill file a brief with other Christian groups opposed to a government mandate of displaying the Ten Commandments in Louisiana?
Because it's holy Scripture, and saying otherwise undermines our faith.

The immediate impact of this order is unclear since the executive order requests plans from several different agencies where there are no federal school voucher programs. (7/8)
As people of faith, we celebrate our country’s freedom of religion and oppose attempts to entangle government in religious matters in this way. (5/8)
Public funds should be for public uses. The government should not compel taxpayers to furnish funds in support of religion, regardless of whether they adhere to that religion or not. (4/8)
Students across the country rely on public schools as the only education system where their freedom of religion and other civil rights are guaranteed. (3/8)
