At the closing ceremony of AFS Forum 2026, @ICOYACA with support from @AGRA_Africa through @GenAfrica_, has officially launched the Youth in Trade Charter.
“The Charter is a practical framework developed through consultations with young people to help translate the opportunities of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) into real outcomes for youth.” @Emolot_AD, Chairperson ICOYACA.
The launch also featured the unveiling of African-preneur Magazine: Across Borders Beyond Barriers, a publication showcasing inspiring stories of young African entrepreneurs who are breaking barriers, overcoming challenges and building successful businesses across the continent.
In my conversation with @Uwihanganye_A, CEO of @GTSummit2026, I asked him why Nairobi was chosen to host the inaugural gathering on rebuilding global trust.
At a time when confidence in international institutions and global systems is increasingly being questioned, what makes Nairobi the right place to begin this conversation?
And what does hosting the Summit in Africa mean for the continent’s role in shaping a more inclusive global order? @SingoeiAKorir

Young people lead outcomes when they hold decision seats, not just panel seats: on follow-up bodies like the Nairobi Trust Council, in tracking delivery, and in leadership pipelines. Thank you @AmanyaStuartJr @Uwihanganye_A.

But beyond representation, how can young people lead the outcomes of the Summit and take the trust agenda forward?

Real youth leadership begins when young people shift from observers to execution drivers. Beyond representation at The #TrustSummit2026, taking the trust agenda forward requires young creators, tech builders, and civic leaders actively tracking whether global promises are kept.

Young people at the table is a start. Young people writing the outcomes is the point. đź’
Because trust is built by those who stay to see it through.

Why dedicate an entire summit to TRUST?
I sat down with @Uwihanganye_A, CEO of the @GTSummit2026, to understand why trust, often seen as an abstract concept, is actually at the heart of how our world functions.

Did you know there’s a hidden cost to mistrust—and we all pay for it?
Since 2012, the trust gap between high and low-income earners has more than doubled. But that gap isn’t just abstract numbers—it shows up in everyday business and life as The Distrust Tax:
•More paperwork & verification
•Extra insurance & compliance
•Unpredictable policies & late payments
When people and businesses can’t simply take each other’s word, doing business gets more expensive for everyone. Mistrust is never free—somebody always pays the tax.

Do countries trust each other the same way people do?
When trust breaks down, individuals, institutions, and entire countries retreat: fewer risks, fewer strangers, and fewer commitments to partners who might not deliver.
Key takeaway from The Trust Summit 2026:
A trade agreement is just paper until borders open, payments clear, and disputes actually resolve.
Trust isn’t declared—it’s demonstrated through delivery.
