"Exist as if algorithms don't exist."
A friend told me that and I can't unhear it.
We've trained creatives to ask an algorithm for permission. The real power is making something exist before the data confirms who needed it.
Your work is not ultimately about being seen. It is about seeing clearly enough that other people can see too.
creatives are God's athletes. and athletes need a team, a coach, recovery time, and the wisdom to know which season they're training in. you are not meant to perform year round without rest.
Faith and creativity are the same muscle. both require you to act on something you can't fully see yet.
hot take: the most countercultural thing a creative can do right now is build something slowly, faithfully, and without performing the process.
God doesn't just give you the vision. he gives you the people, the timing, the resources, and the open doors in the exact sequence the work needs. your job is to stay close enough to recognize them when they arrive.
God didn't give you range by accident. He gave you range because the work He prepared for you requires all of it.
That's not your personality, it's your design.
Being a creative is just: have a feeling, make it into something, share it, feel vulnerable, repeat forever
when God is your creative director, you stop auditioning your gifts for people who were never meant to commission them.
the best gift I've given myself this year is deciding that not everything needs to be monetized. some things just need to exist.
Sometimes the price to access you has to go up.
The economy of my soul is too precious to be traded for validation, convenience, or proximity.
Nina Simone said it's an artist's duty to reflect the times. you are living in historic times. reflect accordingly.
