🚨 THREAD: Why VASC.AI Outperforms General LLMs in Vascular Surgery:
AI has immense potential in medical education, but general-purpose large language models (LLMs) are not optimized for specialized fields like vascular surgery. Our study demonstrates why VASC.AI (chat.vasc.ai), a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) model, surpasses general LLMs. 🧵👇

Widespread non-adherence to guidelines in the operative management of diabetes-related foot disease complications
➡️ doi.org/10.1093/bjs/znae231
This study reports widespread non-adherence to the IWGDF and GVG guidance in the context of DFD complications managed in the theatre setting
Areas of discordance include objective lower limb assessment, antibiotic prescribing, tissue sampling, and offloading
Diabetic foot multidisciplinary teams should strive towards improved guideline adherence and support research to strengthen the quality of evidence underpinning international guidelines.
