Canada🇨🇦 just proposed the biggest Express Entry overhaul in years, and it fundamentally changes who gets PR. If you've been relying on a Canadian sibling, study credential, or building up Canadian work experience, the game is shifting.

🇦🇺 Australia is considering tightening Working Holiday visa rules for British backpackers, potentially bringing back mandatory regional work to extend stays to 3 years.
No changes yet but talks between Albanese and the UK 🇬🇧 are expected this week.
🇨🇭 If you are living in Switzerland as a non-EU national, Switzerland 🇨🇭 plans to adopt new EU return rules. They include return centres outside Europe and possible detention of up to 24 months for people who are facing deportation.
Nothing has changed yet. Public consultation is expected to start in late January 2027.
🇨🇳 Chinese travellers, take note! Visa-free trips to the Northern Mariana Island were suspended around 30 October 2026 while DHS reviews the program. If you are planning to visit, you will need a US 🇺🇸 visa now.
🇨🇦 If you’re working in Canada 🇨🇦 and waiting on LMIA, reports say the 90-day limit is gone since 28th October 2026. Officers must now wait for the LMIA decision before deciding your work permit. You can check if this covers you.
🇺🇸 Are you flying to the US 🇺🇸 this week? From tomorrow, 3 Nov 2026, every air passenger must sign a CDC Ebola form saying they have not been in DR Congo in the last 21 days. And yes, US citizens and green card holders too. No form, no boarding.
🇬🇧 If you’re in the UK 🇬🇧 or hoping to move there, you will no longer get ILR automatically after 5 years. Under the Earned Settlement plan announced today, Nov 2, 2026, most people will wait for 10 years. Let me break it down.👇
Now, here’s the tough part. 🇬🇧 If you came in illegally, for example on a small boat, you could be waiting up to 30 years. If you claimed benefits in the 5 years before applying, it could be 20 years. And if you have UK 🇬🇧 criminal record, even a police caution, you can’t get ILR at all.
You will also need A-level standard English (B2) to settle. It’s expected to start from Dec. through 2027 and yes, it covers people who are already in the UK.🇬🇧 If you already have ILR, you won’t lose it.

Ireland has extended its Short-Stay Waiver Program for 21 countries until 31 December 2026. Eligible travellers with qualifying UK short-stay visas can visit Ireland 🇮🇪 without a Separate Irish visa.
