The hardest things in life are contradictory — like confidence and humility. Growth and stability. Vision and the ability to listen.
RIP Om Malik.
Didn’t know him well, but he certainly had a “wise uncle” vibe.
When I last saw him IRL in 2014 at Sightglass, we chatted about chai vs coffee, why emergen-c is bad for you, Buddhism, wisteria, the sutro baths and a whole bunch of other stuff. It occurred to me that he was a true renaissance man. And an optimist.
Can someone explain the Palantir phenomenon in Japan? There's something to unpack here about fandom and distribution... I'm utterly fascinated
- Why did people line up and wait for hours?
- Why the sudden interest in Japan of all places?
- Why did they even do a pop-up?
Holy shit @boardyai’s voice agent was so f-ing good. Super conversational, no weird lags, even made jokes!
The Australian accent was “charming”.
I’ve been bullish on voice for a long time (since 2016!) and this was genuinely the second good experience I’ve had.
What’s your stack @andrewdsouza?
Boardy won’t tell me. Mums the word.
Is it just me or does it feel cray there is hardly any focus on distribution at #TorontoTechWeek?
Every event is "build Canada" or "AI this" and "Hackathon that".
I’ve started preferring HTML as an output format instead of docs, markdown and really anything else.
A malleable interface to communicate our ideas and plans is all we've ever wanted... thankful that it is becoming the norm.
Bought another @Ruggable today (love this product).
But “crafted in Canada” → shipped from the U.S → this Canadian pays duties? Welp.
Businesses go where the grass is greener. Still sad watching Canadian companies slowly become American ones.
Roast marketing at its finest 💁🏻♀️
What makes Anthropic’s ads epic and special:
🙌🏽 Yes, the music
🙌🏽 Yes, the relatable situations
🙌🏽 Yes, the shade thrown with absolute class
But most of all… how they took an unsaid fear, and dragged it out into the open.
It’s something millions were already thinking, and they made us feel the possible ripple effects. Viscerally feel.
Even though their depiction of ChatGPT add is satirical, it perfectly captured the extreme version of what we’re all worried about.
🍰 MARKETING LAYER CAKE 👇🏽
For the marketing machine to work, all layers of the cake have to work together.
No, the cake is not one big mush. It’s different textures and flavors coming together.
Specifically there need to be their own “layer lanes”, but there should also be a fair bit of touching, mixing and blending between the layers.
That’s why I love using the LAYER CAKE cake analogy so much. I can’t think of a better one.
A shoe is just a shoe until someone steps into it.
This line was said a few times in the movie Air—about how Nike’s Air Jordan shoe line came to be—and it has stuck with me.
So many parallels in marketing. Like, a pipe is just a pipe until the right fuel goes into it.
Ghostwriter977 did an incredible job. Major props 🤘🏽
But the song is too symmetrical, that’s not Drake’s style. Piano is amazing, but a tad simple.
It doesn’t really matter I suppose, it’s a hit song no matter what because everything else is close to perfection.
But…
