Today has been a bit of a rough one for me. My whole team was laid off including myself. We were the top performing team in the company producing more than double of any other team. If anyone is looking to hire a frontend, backend or full stack dev, or knows of an opportunity…

Popping back in here for a sec to celebrate some amazing AAPI artists who generously donated their works to a #LunarNewYear2024 art auction for the @ArdenwoodFUSD PTA. Incredibly humbled by you all! @kwamsookxo @MartinHsu @chie_tamada @itsaliceleeart instagram.com/p/C28JmCrvVae/

What is Pokémon Sleep? A new mobile game that you leave open next to you at night. It listens to your breathing patterns, and in the morning you wake up to discover new Pokémon with similar sleep habits. You also earn berries as you sleep, to feed and level up your Pokémon.

Any startups out there investing in organizational coach/learning and development manager/talent development types of roles? I see it as a thing that exists in big corps, but want to know who's doing it in the <100 employee space. Or does it not happen because of $$$?

Good people management has been very top of mind for me lately. 🤔 Honeycomb is big enough now that we are starting to develop our own "manager training" materials (except not just for managers, and more like an...immersive experiment?)

"Objectifies men, targets white people." That's like an endorsement for me to watch this movie. 🤣
#JoyRide is embarrassing. Incredibly unpleasant. Like most modern adult "comedies" it's raunchy simply to be raunchy, forgetting there has to be humor attached, and there's none of that. Objectifies men, targets white people. All shock value, "look at me" attitude.

The results of this should be surprising to no one. I like this framing of "should it?" over "could it?"
If we ask "can AI do that?" we're asking the wrong question. A better question is: "Is this an appropriate use of automation?" Here the answer was obviously no, and that was clear ahead of time: vice.com/en/article/qjvk97/e…

The stigma around death means that this kind of stuff isn't talked about or made widely known enough, but educating yourself and preparing for it is an act of care for loved ones you leave behind.
This is weird, but if I put together some kind of “Your Parents Are Dead: What Now?” guide with everything I learn during this depressing paperwork nightmare, would anyone be interested?

There are lots of these kinds of threads out there, but this one is 🔥 As a leader, some of these would give me a long pause to think about, and the answers are hard to BS. As a job seeker, these would tell you real things about the org culture that aren't on the marketing site.
⁉️ Thread of thought-provoking questions that you can ask at the end of your interviews to make the interviewer THINK HARD, which will help you stand out from the rest of the candidates in the job competition! Keep them up all night with these below:

It's called Trubbish, and it's a literal bag of garbage. 😂😂 But no, I'm kidding. I've been a fan of Togepi for forever.

ADHD: Unequivocally knowing that you left your keys in your purse, but can't find them in said purse, or any other bag you own, only to discover them in a similar purse that was hidden behind stuff in a closet, months later. I've thought about those keys *everyday* for months.

My brain nagged me about those keys every time I left the house. I knew they couldn't be anywhere else, but I had also overturned my house looking for them. I wish I could say I feel vindicated, but I'm just relieved that I'm not losing my mind. That ADHD second guessing life 🫠

Unintended side effect of using ChatGPT for my own workflows: Recognizing when others have started copy-pasting its responses into job applications. I think technology like this can be a great tool for job seekers, but to leverage, not replace your efforts.

The ChatGPT response pattern is going to become more recognizable by hiring managers, and I think it'll eventually go the way of "personalized" drip campaign emails—just more noise. Folks who stand out will be the ones who figure out how to use it to augment their search.
