Impactful words by @CarolynBertozzi today on how diversity in her trainees enabled creativity, not playing by the rules, and ultimately the work that built the field of bioorthogonal chemistry. Diverse science leads to better science!

will anyone pay me to become the agony aunt for academics/scientists out there?! I have a lot of experience across institutes and research areas and I genuinely want you all to do well in your professional lives (except if you're an a**hole, then I honestly don't) :-)

"reliable, open, and rigorous"...let me just add that anything short of that should not be tolerated
Starting day two of the #UKRIO2022 @UKRIO conference with @uksciencechief Sir Patrick Vallance with "Perspectives on Research Integrity" Science is a system that allows itself to be challenged and to be corrected. Science must therefore be reliable, open, and rigorous.

"Among high-risk patients, everolimus added to adjuvant ET did not improve DFS. Tolerability was a concern, with more than half of patients stopping everolimus before study completion. Everolimus cannot be recommended in the adjuvant setting."

Nuclear localization of proteins can be influenced by fixation
(1/2) First preprint from the lab! We found that PFA fixation can both enhance and diminish LLPS in cells, even causing puncta to artificially appear or disappear. Our work suggests caution in claiming in vivo LLPS based solely on fixed-cell imaging like immunofluorescence.

xitter.cf/SpringerCellBio/status… (Incorporation of CENP-A/CID into centromeres during early Drosophila embryogenesis does not require RNA polymerase II–mediated transcription) cool paper from the Lehner lab, given the amount of data showing dependence on transcription for CID/CENPA loading
Exciting first set of papers in 2022 from Chromosoma - this is a fascinating study by Christian Lehner and colleagues, suggesting syncytial embryos may use alternative histone loading pathways compared to somatic tissues in fly! link.springer.com/article/10… #Chromosomes #openaccess
As a breast cancer academic scientist, are there roles for people like me in patient advocacy? I read about MSLs asking KOLs about their opinion on whether a clinical trial represents their patient population, but why not involve patients at the start? Am I missing something?
