Losing a long-standing high street business is always a blow to a community. But when that business is the last keeper of an area's entire industrial heritage, it cuts much deeper – threatening a piece of local identity itself.

While the story took an unexpected twist, the takeaway for campaigners is clear: communities care about local heritage and independent trade. All residents need is an active Lib Dem team on the ground to give them a voice and lead the fight.

A Nazi bully at school - @Nigel_Farage denies this despite 34 witnesses to the contrary - he is a bully MP. He told people he didn't go to the budget because he did not want an altercation with an MP. It turns out that this is @LibDems' @CarolineVoaden. Pathetic. I am not shocked by his shameful behaviour because of the testimony of so many witnesses for my book, The Real Nigel Farage. Nasty piece of work.
Exclusive: Nigel Farage's "physical altercation" during the State Opening of Parliament was with the Lib Dem MP Caroline Voaden - and has caused an major row between Reform and the Lib Dems. Lib Dem sources say Voaden was left "shocked and shaken" after he "shoved" her to secure a place in the procession of MPs to the King's Speech. Video from the Commons Chamber that day shows Farage and Voaden making their way down from their benches together. Voaden reported the incident to the Serjeant at Arms and says Farage was asked to apologise - but hasn't. A Reform spokesman denies any wrongdoing by Farage, saying "it was the Lib Dem MPs being aggressive towards Nigel". Lib Dems say that is "utter nonsense" Farage said yesterday that the "physical altercation" was the reason he didn't put up a fight to be in the Chamber for the Budget after his prayer card to save a space was removed. He said he thought that after the row with Voaden, it was "better to avoid conflict". But in a further twist, a Commons spokesman says Farage's card was only removed because it didn't have a date stamp, which are required to reserve a spot. Aren’t you the guy who was jailed for beating up a woman, and then downplayed it as a β€˜teenage indiscretion’? How on earth do you think you can lecture anyone on this? I was right there in the Chamber - you can see me. Fact. I saw Farage put his hands on @CarolineVoaden to shove her out the way. Fact. Caroline shrieked in shock. Fact. No physical altercation is featured in the clip that is circulating - it happened in the seconds before. Fact. Caroline reported this to the Speaker and Sergeant-at-Arms at the time. Fact. Caroline then got on with her job because she hasn’t got time for this shit. Fact.
I’ve tried to find myself in the video because I remember this pretty clearly. I think I’m one row back just out of shot on the left of the screen. It’s completely beyond me how and why Caroline has presented herself as the victim here. She was bloody rude and really quite confrontational and she did it for no other reason than Nigel is Nigel and she wanted to give him a piece of her mind. Anything other than it being a bit of a rush and a squeeze because of the occasion is nonsense. From what I remember Caroline was both the instigator and the aggressor.

You just went on QT and denied climate change is a problem, even after the hottest winter on record and thousands of heat related deaths. We’re the ones on another planet? Funny considering you so regularly talk out of Uranus.
In case anyone thinks the Lib Dems are on another planet, I just sat next to one on Question Time. She claimed the reason there’s a housing shortage in Britain is because of Airbnb. Incredible.

Fake news. I was 2nd in the MPs’ queue from 7.30am this morning (behind Des Swayne) for a prayer card to reserve a seat and there was no sign of Farage then. I didn’t see him come to prayers at 11.30am to come and claim a seat then either. You snooze, you lose.
Nigel Farage was unable to attend the Budget in the Commons because his seat reservation was removed, The Telegraph understands. The Reform UK leader’s prayer card β€” a green slip of paper that backbench MPs put on a spot on the green benches to reserve their seat β€” was moved after it was placed this morning. πŸ”— telegraph.co.uk/business/202…

Farage's prayer card lacked a valid date stamp and was removed per House of Commons protocol. MPs confirm seats were available and he did not attend prayers. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/… x.com/hope_sapphire/…

Wait, WHAT?? You mean he LIED to the press and made up a fake story to cover the fact he couldn’t be bothered to go to the budget? Shooketh. Hope everyone’s ok, this is brand new information.
NEW: It has since emerged that Nigel Farage did not attend prayers in the Commons this morning so did not properly reserve his seat Read more from @hope_sapphire πŸ‘‡

And we both know that’s not true Nigel don’t we? I’m still waiting for the apology you were required to write to me… Though I won’t hold my breath
🚨 WATCH: Nigel Farage says he didn't attend the Budget in Parliament to "avoid a physical altercation" "Given my prayer card [to reserve a seat] was removed, I was heading towards another physical altercation... being a quiet, shy and modest person, I decided against it"

This is what a valid prayer card looks like, @Nigel_Farage. Got one today. Attended prayers. Seat reserved. No altercation required. Happy to show you how it works sometime.
