It's over. @AnjaliApp has been disqualified. I think when the Executive voted at the top of the meeting that it didn't even want to hear @AnjaliApp's response to the accusations, it was 100% obvious which way this would go. An unfair end to a grossly unfair process. #bcpoli

That headline is a bit convoluted. No worries, I'll do the math: man is deceased + officer-involved shooting = police shoot and kill a man.

I'm looking forward to taking a closer read through this over the next couple days! At first perusal, it's an ambitious document -- but the platform items do seem feasible and evidence-based. @StefanieHardman might also be the only candidate to release a platform.
After months of conversations, consultations & dialogue, I'm so excited to be sharing my platform & vision for our city with you! Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts & ideas with me. Now, let’s move forward with a just & sustainable recovery: togethervictoria.ca/platform

Listening to a @BreneBrown podcast recently, she posed the question: "Do you believe people are doing the best they can"? Responding to complex social issues like homelessness requires kindness - choosing to believe that people are doing the best they can is at the core of this.
On November 13th, we celebrate #WorldKindnessDay. Homelessness impacts our whole community. Today, choose kindness and compassion in the way that you talk about homelessness and the individuals who are experiencing it. 💜

Great thread. I have a lot of love for Legion branches, and am worried about how many will survive the pandemic. What can local governments do to support them through this time and beyond?
Legions are an important cornerstone of so many communities in Canada. Almost every village & town once had a local branch. They were opened as sanctuary spaces after WWI for the half a million returning vets. They were also key in advocating for the rights of veterans. /1

You know, saying we're at "Threat Level 6" rather than "moderate risk" is a much more interesting way to refer to the Air Quality Health Index set by Environment Canada. That said, the smoke/fog combo feels a bit too much like a scene from The Mist for my liking.

Oh dang hold the phone - it looks like it's dropped one more to Threat Level 5. I'm gonna chalk that up as a win. weather.gc.ca/airquality/pag…

People don't get more conservative as they get older, they get more property as they get older. The acquisition of property has more of an impact on people's ideas than any book or ideological debate could ever hope to achieve.

Last July, I FOI’d records about VicPD’s school liaison officer (SLO) program. VicPD withheld info about SLOs’ training — crucial to understanding how VicPD views the program — and I've fought to get those records since. On Friday they were emailed to me. (thread) #yyj #cdnfoi

Even AOC stands with Wet'suwet'en 🙌 Remember: LNG is neither green nor safe.
Fracking is NOT a transitional fuel, and it is dangerous to say so. Fracking emits methane, which is about **84 TIMES** more powerful than CO2 in contributing to climate change for a generation. This is not a joke. We either commit to the science or not. nationalgeographic.com/scien…
