You live on an island continent far from Europe or any credible threat of invasion. Ireland opposes warfare in favour of neutrality and international law, and does so at some risk to its own interests and safety, and always has done (since at least 697 AD).

One could add Christabel and Peter Bielenberg were opposed to Nazism and, following Hitler's rise to power in 1933, participated in anti-Nazi activities. Christabel’s book “The Past is Myself” written in Co Carlow was an international bestseller and on the school curriculum.
