If you are into football fan culture then it's worth giving @TerraceEdition a follow. Stories from around the world, from all levels of the game, free to read and free of adverts. Feel free to share with any mates that get to a few games.
Some presume, that because football fans can come from humble backgrounds, that we don’t appreciate beauty. But that would be a mistake because the true football supporter always has their head up, looking for the elegant game.

New for @TerraceEdition. The @pato group invest in the Cobblers. From Internacional to Northampton. São Paulo to Semilong. It feels like a fever dream, but in a way, makes sense in this provincial sports stronghold. #ntfc #selecao terraceedition.com/home-haut…

Today marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks of 11th September 2001. On that fateful day, I was at Canal France International (CFI), where I worked, at 15 Rue Cognacq-Jay in Paris. I was with my colleagues Heidi Hammel and Boniface Morutampnzi, waiting for Andy Bodfish and Wayne Boyce to join us for a discussion about our work in football commentary. At the time, I had the privilege of commentating on UEFA Champions League and CAF Champions League matches, before CFI eventually lost the broadcasting rights. Then came the horrifying images from New York. We watched the events unfold live on CNN as though we were watching a film. It was surreal and almost impossible to believe, but, tragically, it was real. The attack on the Twin Towers, and the other attacks carried out that day, was cruel, audacious and profoundly shocking. It was an assault on innocent lives and the values of civilisation, and it changed the world forever. Twenty-five years later, I still remember exactly where I was and who was with me. We must never forget those who lost their lives, their grieving families, and the courageous first responders who risked everything to save others. May the souls of all the innocent victims continue to rest in peace. @WayneBoyce @AndyBodfish @BonifaceMURUTAM

1. Juan Carlos Unzué , Osasuna 2. Marcelino , Sporting 3. Mendiondo , Atlético Madrid 4. Rafa Paz , Sevilla 5. Fenerbahçe – Manchester City Şampiyon Kulüpler Kupası maçı öncesinde City kalecisi Harry Dowd, amatör kamerasıyla İstanbul’u çekmiş. 1968 İstanbul’unun renkli görüntüleri… İnönü Stadı.. Henüz bambaşka bir İstanbul. Bu maç, aynı zamanda Manchester City’nin Avrupa Kupaları tarihindeki ilk deplasmanı. Fenerbahçe ve Türk futbol tarihinin önemli maçlarından birinin öncesi. Muazzam bir arşiv.

Do you know what's absolutely ridiculous? 1956-1976: No English manager won the European Cup 1977-1984: Only English managers, apart from 1 year in 1983, won the European Cup 1985 until the present day: No English manager has won the European Cup

Part of the reason I like old football photos so much is that I relied on them back in the dim and distant 80s/90s,if I'd missed a match or goal on TV at the time. Often it was years before you would see a clip of the goal itself. Eg this one. Great picture from the FA Yearbook

Randomly been in and around Bordeaux the last week and managed to avoid incineration. Great town, classically regal in the French style, calm and picturesque, fantastic food and incredible value. Highly recommended.

“Moonlight Shadow”was released by Mike Oldfield in 1983 as the lead single from his album Crises. Featuring the ethereal vocals of Maggie Reilly, the song became the biggest solo hit of Oldfield's career, reaching #1 in several European countries, including Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, and Spain, and #4 on the UK Singles Chart. Although many listeners have interpreted the lyrics as being inspired by the 1980 murder of John Lennon, Mike Oldfield has never confirmed this, and the song's true meaning remains open to interpretation. Maggie Reilly's haunting vocal performance became one of the track's defining features, helping turn it into one of the most beloved pop songs of the 1980s.
