I wrote an R package that makes it much easier to use computational models of causal judgments. You can also explore the associated interactive app: tadegquillien.shinyapps.io/c… cran.r-project.org/web/packa…

A taxonomy of every human feeling (74 main ones, plus another 30 or so oddball feelings like déjà vu or dreaming). Great idea for a book to identify and explain each one. All the Feels by Robert Kurzban. allthefeelsbook.com/

Humans and other animals fight over things and territory. How do we resolve these disputes? Common answers include: first/current possessor keeps & bigger animal gets it. What do very young children think? 1.5 years old or younger. New research at Evolution & Human Behavior!

Perhaps not what adults would think, at least for first possession. Also, these very young kids do not preferentially interact with with first possessors versus someone who took something from a first possessor. Again, probably not how adults would think.

Morality and politics -- some theories say that left- and right-wing people draw on different values. Is this true of politicians, at least in their rhetoric? New research at Political Psychology says not really.

This work drew on Moral Foundations Theory (care, fairness, authority, loyalty, purity). Interestingly, for Rs all the foundations were used to moralize honoring the military and all but one to moralize corruption.

A nice demonstration of the Authority/obedience Foundation in operation: High-obedience people make a strong distinction between legal and illegal. And treat intent as important. Low-obedience people don't much feel violations as wrong whether legal or illegal. And don't differentiate between intentional or unintentional.
We often turn our morals in laws. (It's wrong to steal, so it's also illegal.) But if an act becomes illegal, does that make it immoral? New research in JESP says yes. Same actions, but experimentally manipulate whether it's illegal --> more immoral.

New at Evolution & Human Behavior: People want (same-sex) friends who are good at the things our ancestors needed to be good at and are kind. Most surprising to me, they also really want *hot* friends. Again, same-sex and the participants were heterosexual.
