🔥 Hey friends! We’re starting a new series called 'REOPLE'. This mini project will be dedicated to fans and content creators in the Resident Evil community. We want to bring content creators a little closer to fans and help you get to know the people behind the work you know and love. It’s also our way of supporting the creative side of the fandom and the people who have spent years making content, keeping interest in Resident Evil alive and helping new fans discover the series. ✨ Our first guest is @MimiDoesCosplay 🗣️ Hi Mimi, Please tell us a little about yourself. What’s your background, what do you do in your free time, and what are some of your hobbies? 😇 Heyhoi! SO, first thing about me,, I’m a 24 year old goober who was born in lil ol Belgium in Europe! Because of being born there I can speak both Dutch and English and in late May of 2025 I moved to the US! I made a name for myself online by cosplaying, most notably as Rebecca Chambers as well as Sakura Kasugano! I mainly do silly shenanigans in my videos like little dances and skits, I just do what makes me happy. As for my free time I tend to simply scroll on my phone or relax and watch Youtube with my cat Pip on my lap,, lazymaxxing. Hobby wise I LOVE cosplaying,, which is a given with my username and all :’D However aside from cosplaying I enjoy drawing too! It’s been my longest ongoing hobby, I can’t recall a time I didn’t draw. 🗣️ How did you end up cosplaying Rebecca in the first place? What made you choose her? 😇 I first consciously was introduced to Rebecca when she was added into Dead By Daylight as one of the survivors (There’s a reason I say consciously which I’ll explain in another answer lel). I instantly really liked her and because of this I delved into her lore and found out more about her as a character. Her overall kindness as well as determination to assist and help others regardless of who they are really resonates a lot with me,, I truly saw myself in those characteristics. I wanted to cosplay her way back in 2023 when I was getting back into the world of cosplay, however her vest was a little too difficult to figure out at the time so I opted to cosplay 2nd best girl Jill instead! However I finally went ahead and assembled a cosplay for Rebecca after figuring out an easy way to make her vest in 2024 and the rest is history :”D 🗣️ How long did it take you to fully complete your Rebecca cosplay? 😇 Honestly,, I’d say it genuinely was a 2 year process that’s still ongoing to ‘perfect’ it! A lot of factors come into play in that; from her shoes to the med pouches to the hair (which I simply ended up cutting my real hair cus the wigs were getting tedious :”D) But in general the first cosplay I did of her was properly assembled and sewn together over the course of about a week or three :”D. It looked rough bUT I was super happy with it, and ultimately that’s what mattered. 🗣️ How were you first introduced to Resident Evil? What was the first game you played? 😇 My very first introduction to Resident Evil was through my older brother Ryan when I was a wee lass because his bedroom was essentially the designated gaming room of the house. He played a wide variety of games however I distinctly remember the sound effects and vague visualizations of the old Resi games. Fast forward to many many years later, I finally played through my first Resi game myself which was RE2R (then I did re3r,, then re1 and the others)! All things considered though, it’s still crazy funny to me that all these years later I suddenly had an epiphany hearing certain inventory sounds from the original games :”DD they unlocked hidden memories from when I was a kid I swear 🗣️ What’s your favorite game in the Resident Evil series? 😇 RE1 HD Remaster. No contest. The main reason I hold that game above all is because it not only aged really well graphically, but the fact your choices matter to the point there's 12 different endings is so cool to me (despite the fact that not a single one of those is ‘canon’ as there’s no ending with EVERYONE in the helicopter at the end, either Barry or Rebecca will be missing). That and it has Wesker in his S.T.A.R.S. uniform. Nuff said. 🗣️ Who are your favorite female and male characters in Resident Evil? 😇 Favorite female character is definitely Rebecca Chambers which is also why I cosplay her, however I have to give some flowers to our beloved Jill as well. Girl went through extreme shit and still came out of it alive with a determination to continue, I just wish to see her in another game (though same could be said for Bobecca). As for my favorite male character his name starts with W and ends in esker. I love me some Albert Wesker >:3 I literally have a mini shrine in my apartment dedicated to him for laughs. 🗣️ How has becoming popular within the Resident Evil fandom affected you? How do fans usually react when they see your Rebecca cosplay at conventions? Do you have any funny or memorable stories? 😇 Honestly I still struggle to grasp the fact I’ve become ‘popular’ :’D However it’s affected me positively, I brought a lot of people together and helped shine a light on an underrated character through my silly shenanigans and cosplays. At conventions I sometimes get recognized by name now (whiCH IS INSANE TO ME IN A POSITIVE WAY AAA) and often it’s paired with people doing the :0 face which prompts me to start jumping up and down in excitement. I have a lot of people who can attest to that lol :”D I think my most memorable memory of the sort was attending MCM London in May of ‘25 (right before I moved lol) where I was recognized all weekend and almost cried multiple times of joy. It’s heartwarming to me to be recognized for something especially something that brings me great joy, not to mention the fact that it makes other people happy too ;w; the ultimate win-win 🗣️ Is there anything about the fandom that sometimes upsets or disappoints you? Have you had any experiences like that? 😇 The way people will get into fights over the smallest things sometimes. Luckily I’m not the utmost active in the fandom with their catfights but I do see them on my feed every now and then. I think we as a community would benefit from just not engaging with something if it’s not your cup of tea. Or if someone has a different opinion than yours just simply nod and move on, don’t engage and throw hands because all it does is make you look stupid. Some people can be nasty and rude, but not everyone of course. I just wish we’d all be a little nicer to each other. Just in general y’know. 🗣️ What Rebecca headcanon do you find the most believable? And do you have any headcanons of your own about her? 😇 One Rebecca headcanon I share with my friends is that she’s neurodivergent. It’s a little self-inserty as I myself am autistic however I truly do feel that it would make sense for her ;w; 🗣️ What advice would you give to people who are just getting started with cosplay? 😇 GO FOR IT! Cosplaying may seem extremely daunting when you first get into it, however it doesn’t have to be! You don’t need to make every costume yourself, there’s nothing wrong with buying one premade or thrifting the items (and whoever tells you otherwise is not a cosplayer, theyre just privileged and have their head up their ass). Speaking of thrifting; thrift stores are your best friend! A lot of costumes can be broken down in civilian clothing; for example I thrifted my Rebecca pants as they are just army green cargo pants, same for her shirt! It’s just an olive green shirt lol. OH, and please,, choose comfort over accuracy. It will save you in the long run. Not only that but if you’re aiming to make content with your cosplays please please don’t focus on numbers. It sounds stupid coming from me, I know,, but I genuinely could care less about my numbers as long as I’m having fun. That’s been my mindset from day one and look where it got me! 🗣️ What are you working on these days? Do you have any plans or projects you’d like to pursue in the future? 😇 Aside from my usual silly postings online, I recently was part of a fanfilm where I got a wee part to portray everyone’s favorite Bravo Team medic! It’s called Original Sin: Prelude to Biohazard and is set to release somewhere in March of 2027 on ROE’s Youtube channel. This was an insane experience for me and I am so so happy and honored to have been part of it, not only that but it also has left me with an itch to do similar projects in the future :’D I’m not an official actress or nothing, Original Sin was my first ‘acting’ gig, however I’d love to give it more shots if someone takes that chance on me again ;w; That aside though, I’ve taken on streaming on Twitch which has been going well and given that I have a good amount of free time nowadays,, I have time to finally relax and work on cosplays at my own pace :’) I finally can get started on Sherry Birkin’s outfit from re6… that’s been one I’ve sidelined for a hot minute…
