Listening to a great webinar hosted by @ThirdSector about #fundraising - regarding diversification, "It takes time" is a repeated comment. Something we think about in our recent blog about the Sigmoid curve and implications for #charity fundraising. angelgiving.io/the-sigmoid-c…

Did you know the first form of endowment originated in the 7th century Islamic world, called "Waqf"? This saw individuals donating property or assets for religious or charitable causes. The principal amount was preserved, ensuring sustained support for public works.
The income can come from non-interest bearing sources and creates a perpetual source of funding, allowing organizations to plan and operate long-term projects. From funding research, education, healthcare to supporting the less fortunate, an endowment can make a lasting impact.
The Waqf's pioneering principle of perpetual giving continues to inspire and shape the modern philanthropic landscape.
