It's time for @CityWestminster to rethink its enforcement-heavy approach to central London living. Katherine is lovely, so are the plants. Let them stay.
An 89-year-old woman is fighting to keep a bench and potted garden she has created outside her Westminster home. Westminster Council says it acted after years of complaints, including reports of drug taking and dumped rubbish, and believes moving the bench will help reduce disturbance.

£4.7m in lieu of 14 key worker flats is just not good enough. I'd expected better from the new @CityWestminster administration. Also I'm disappointed they tried to avoid discussion by refusing to bring this to planning committee for decision.
Do the Westminster Conservatives really care about key worker housing?🧐 One of their first major planning decisions has been to approve the loss of 14 key worker homes from one of London’s most prestigious luxury developments, The Whiteley.

The election is very tight between Labour and Conservatives. Splitting the progressive vote will hand victory to the Conservatives. And then we will all have to sit back and watch while community hubs close, community projects get defunded and social housing is no more.

In Labour-run Westminster Council, under my leadership, we set the Minimum Income Guarantee at £273 for all adults accessing social care irrespective of age. This compares to the £240 for over 66yr olds and £120 for those younger as set by government. gov.uk/government/news/400-c…

Amazing afternoon at Westbourne World Festival celebrating everything that makes our diverse community so special. Wonderful food, incredible performances and, most importantly, a room full of people that work hard to support their neighbours and make me so proud to be part of this community. @lovepaddington @hlepout

I’ve written in this week’s Westminster Extra about the action we are taking to fight poverty in Harrow Road and across our city. In Westminster, Labour is funding free school meals and community kitchens rather than wasting £6m on vanity projects like the Marble Arch Mound.🌹

Out on Elgin Avenue this week hearing what matters to you. You’re loving the Exchange Community Hub and Happy Hub - spaces your @wminsterlabour council made happen. Westminster Conservatives and their Reform allies oppose them. On 7th May, vote Labour. 🌹

Coming soon to the Brunel Happy Hub! This is why #FairerWestminster has been opening community hubs - residents who need help and advice can find it. And we in @wminsterlabour will fight Conservative attempts to close them down
Have you heard about our drop in #informationhubs? They are all around Westminster so here's our events calendar so you can see if there is one near you. Our Abbey Centre venue has just opened and Brunel Estate Centre opens on Feb 3rd! westminstercab.org.uk/events…

I’m really pleased that 43 years after he was first elected, @PDimoldenberg has been elected Lord Mayor of Westminster. No-one else could be more appropriate as the City’s first citizen

I joined colleagues in writing a letter outlining our vision for a stronger UK-EU relationship, focused on boosting trade, security, and growth. With the UK-EU summit on 19th May, there is potential to work together to benefit our businesses, communities, and young people.

Robinson isn't the only one to incorrectly blame net zero for steel industry chaos Lack of industrial strategy & high gas prices, which remain volatile, are the final straw Robinson should focus on this, not try to be sensationalist about new coal mines, which are a red herring

🚨Two HUGE wins for our community!🚨 Thanks to the incredible support from residents across Kensington and Bayswater, we’ve secured the future of two vital Post Office services: 📍 High Street Kensington – After months of campaigning and thousands backing our petition, the Post Office has confirmed services offered by the branch on Kensington High Street will continue under a new franchise model. 📍 Queensway – The brand new Post Office branch is now officially open! Located at Queensway Express, 70 Westbourne Grove, it’s just a 5-minute walk from the old site and open daily from 7am–9pm. A big boost for Bayswater and Lancaster Gate. I’ll keep standing up to protect Post Office services across Kensington & Bayswater.

A dark day for journalism in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Today, @RFERL was informed that the federal grant agreement funding our global operations has been terminated. The cancellation of @RFERL's grant agreement would be a gift to America's enemies. Read our full release. about.rferl.org/article/rfe-…

New: Congratulations to @StAlbansCouncil for voting to end prayers at the beginning of meetings. Great news that the council recognises the importance of an inclusive and secular approach. Other councils should follow this example. secularism.org.uk/news/2025/…
