This is how it works:
When enabled, sculpt mode creates a set of fake topology connections to join all disconnected mesh elements into a single one. This way, the Pose Brush (or any other sculpting tool) can deform multiple elements without modifying its code. #b3d #devfund
The Pose Brush in Blender 2.90 now works on full character models with multiple parts in disconnected meshes.
