ALT The image on the left shows a middle school student standing in front of a classroom’s Growing Beyond Earth plant habitat, the room lit up in pink from the habitat’s lighting, doing Citizen Science in support of learning how NASA astronauts can grow edible plants in space. On the right, an astronaut on the International Space Station conducts a similar experiment with the Vegetable Production System, known as Veggie, with that similar pink light glow emanating from the system.
