As scientists we study processes and properties of things. As sapient metaphysicians, we do not mistake process for the substance of things. An effect does not generate itself, so backward into a vast series of effects and their causes, there must exist a First Cause.

The ostentatious hacks by North Korea, China, and other adversarial countries on the horizon are designed for one overarching purpose: radicalize the American public against AI. Then China surges past American supremacy. Markets tank. Better get on it, Big Tech.

Despite the randomness, a cell has close to 6 neighbours on average, because the geometry forces it.
Seeds appear at random moments, and each one grows outward at the same speed. A crystal can only start in space nobody has claimed yet. Where two fronts meet, they stop and form a border.
This is the Johnson-Mehl model, published in 1939 by two metallurgists to describe how metal freezes. The same rule describes frost on glass and the grain structure of steel. The filled share follows 1 − e^(−kt³), a law found independently by Kolmogorov, Johnson, Mehl and Avrami.

🚨🇺🇸 One hacked employee laptop just cost Binance an estimated $6.3 billion, the biggest crypto theft on record
Binance says attackers likely got in through a compromised DevOps engineer's laptop and pushed through unauthorized withdrawals, and it has frozen deposits and withdrawals while it investigates and promised to cover every customer's loss.
About $3 billion has been frozen so far, most of it in stablecoins after Tether and Circle locked the tokens within hours, but roughly $2.4 billion in bitcoin and ether is still in the attacker's wallets, and those have no company that can hit pause.
Bitcoin dropped more than 4% to under $78,000. The previous record, the Bybit hack in 2025, was $1.5 billion.
The lesson is uncomfortable for an industry that sells itself as unhackable: the money that could be stopped was the money controlled by a company, and the money that got away was the part nobody controls.
Getting it back now depends on the thieves trying to cash out through an exchange that cooperates, which can take months or years.

Binance and associated crypto companies froze billions of dollars due to a massive hack estimated at $6.3 billion.
Jeffrey Sachs talks about "decent people" on the October 28th @TuckerCarlson podcast. Sachs seems to forget the indecent blood of millions he has on his hands from his economic "shock therapy." Millions of Russians died. Even in "model Poland," the suicide rates jumped massively and people suffered terribly.
Sachs cleared the way for corrupt Russian oligarchs via his rapid, mass privatization scheme. Millions of people fled "model Poland," causing deep, structural economic hardship that lasted for decades.
Sachs is also responsible for mass deaths in other post-Soviet States. Those included Ukraine, Baltic states, and Central Asian states.
He brought mass suffering to South America with his then-called "Bolivian Experiment." He ran this experiment before the one on Russia and Eastern Europe. He knew what he was going to inflict upon the masses there.
Of critical importance to Carlson's nuclear cataclysm screeching is that Sachs's policies left the world's largest nuclear arsenal (Russia) unsecured. It was a dire threat to the world. The United States had to spend billions upon billions of US taxpayer dollars in order to prevent a nuclear doomsday scenario.
All the death and despair was worth it for Jeffrey Sachs. He remains unrepentant. Psychopath Sachs doesn't care. His shock therapy was funded by co-psychopath George Soros. Soros counted on making big money off the corpses of Jeffrey Sachs, but it didn't turn out well, just like Sachs's inhumane shock therapy didn't for his corpses.
Recall how vociferously Sachs defended the Chinese heiress-slash-Huawei executive who violated US sanctions on Iran. He and Carlson love Iran, China, and Russia with its present-day, Putin-controlled silovarch system.
Disregard the "moral" squeaks of Carlson and Sachs. They are both rank psychopaths running in the mediocre circle of psychopathy. They exploit people's suffering and have no regard for them. They both use dumb or naive people to fuel their delusions of potence. Next best thing to real potence they have...
Sachs officially works for Qatar-funded institutions. Carlson takes his Qatari cut under the table, or tawila, as the case may be.
I've been noticing a strange new schizo pattern of Tucker Carlson's. Listen to 1m19s of his October 28th podcast with fellow delusional psychopath Jeffrey Sachs. @TuckerCarlson has started pronouncing long-a words like yet another delusional psychopath, @RealCandaceO.
The Obama administration first launched an investigation into Omar's reputed marriage to her brother.
More importantly, if her father's military background had been disclosed, it's very unlikely he would've obtained refugee status in the U.S. Witnesses and experts say he lied.
⚾⚾ Baseball & Latin America: The History ⚾⚾
About 30% of MLB is made up of Latin American players. Here's a brief history of how baseball became a big thing in Latin America:
🔸In the 1860s, wealthy Cuban and Venezuelan students returned home from American universities and brought baseball to their countries.
🔸 In both countries, baseball began as an elite sport for the aristocracy.
🔸 American merchant sailors spread baseball to everyday Cuban citizens. It was no longer just for the Cuban elite.
🔸 When a Cuban cigar factory opened in 1890 in Venezuela, Cuban workers taught baseball to working-class Venezuelans. It wasn't just for the Venezuelan elite anymore.
(Sidenote: Cuba was still a colony of Spain, and the Spanish hated baseball. They thought it was anti-Spanish and pushed for bullfighting, but Cubans resisted and kept on playing baseball. For them, baseball was a symbol of Cuban independence.)
🔸 When the Ten Years' War broke out between Cuba and Spain in 1868, Cuban refugees fled to the Dominican Republic and brought baseball there.
🔸 Baseball was established as an elite sport in the Dominican Republic.
🔸 After the Cubans brought baseball to the Dominican aristocracy, the U.S. Marines brought in baseball equipment and made it a sport for all classes of Dominicans.
🔸 Cuban immigrants and a working-class migrant from New York introduced baseball to Puerto Rico. It was reserved for the Puerto Rican aristocracy, however, because they were the ones who could fund it.
🔸 Like the U.S. military did in the Dominican Republic, the U.S. Army and Navy brought baseball gear and democratized baseball in Puerto Rico.
🔸 An American businessman named Albert Addlesberg brought baseball to the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua.
🔸Baseball began as a working-class sport on the east side of Nicaragua, unlike with Cuba, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and western Nicaragua.
🔸 Wealthy students returning home from American universities brought baseball to western Nicaragua.
🔸Unlike other places, the U.S. military did not democratize baseball in Nicaragua. Instead, they used it to build alliances with the upper class on the Pacific coast.
🔸 The Somoza dictatorship empowered by the Marines democratized baseball in Nicaragua after the Marines left.
🔸In Panama, baseball arrived via American commerce and the U.S. military while Panama was still a province of Colombia. It started off as a working-class sport, like in eastern Nicaragua.
🔸 From 1898 through the 1930s, U.S. military service members deployed in Latin American countries prioritized building baseball fields and distributing equipment to the populations.
🔸 Baseball helped keep American troops fit and disciplined, and it was a tool of cultural democracy across Latin America. Baseball also provided for the public health of children in the local school systems of Cuba and Puerto Rico.
🏆
¡And now we have many great Latin American baseball players, like World Series MVP William Contreras from Venezuela!

“THE BREWERS WIN IT! THE BREWERS WIN IT! OH MY GOD, THE BREWERS WIN IT!” 🎙️
How all of America wishes Bob Uecker could have been behind that microphone last night.
For 54 seasons, Uecker was the voice of Milwaukee baseball.
His unmistakable voice carried generations of Brewers fans through heartbreak, hope, laughter, and the enduring dream of a World Series championship.
To millions, he was Mr. Baseball.
His unforgettable portrayal of Harry Doyle in Major League (1989) gave baseball fans one of the most iconic voices in sports cinema.
Bob passed away in January 2025, leaving behind a legacy that transcended baseball.
And how fitting it would have been for the man who spent more than half a century calling Brewers games to deliver the call he’d waited a lifetime to make.
Somewhere in heaven, I’d like to imagine that familiar voice celebrating alongside Milwaukee.
This one’s for you, Ueck.
You deserved to see it.
You deserved to call it.
Rest in peace, Mr. Baseball. ⚾️💙🎙️

The Rays live to see Game 5.
It was a good game at least. Pratt's go-ahead home run in the 12th was going to cinch it ... I thought ... but woe up! The Rays overcame.
Okay. It's on again. Go Brewskis!!

A lot of people are saying how good and efficient @bot is.
This reply cracked me up. Now my favorite animals are involved. (Must see the original post to get it.)
The Brew Crew set two records tonight:
1) Most consecutive hits in a postseason game - 7 hits
2) Most 2-out runs in a single World Series inning - 8 runs in the 5th
These were set after a 3rd out was overturned.
Rough night for Tampa Bay. Not mad about Yandy Diaz's RBI.
