We’re all in a dark cave without a candle. Some have a spark but in the end they are no less bewildered. Compared to our future potential

Emergent phenomena and exponential growth curves are just entirely outside the reach of most human minds. And I really don’t get it when there’s an entire track record holding you by the hand the whole way there

Those who see the shape of the world around us, the glitter and shimmer of the cosmos as the stars twinkle in the night, the eldritch horrors being baked in data centers, those geometrically aligned few. They know

It's no longer just a matter of opinion: if you're not intensely concerned about the next 12-18 mos, you don't understand what's happening.

I figured a while back that as AGI approaching got more obvious, more and more people would go crazy, on account of needing to more strongly yell crazier things at themselves in order to feel OK. This is so far looking correct.
it is quite unpleasant to be “agi pilled” and most intelligent people cant stomach it. the amount of cope and departure from reality is increasing over time rather than decreasing

How can I put this. The sensation that we are doomed is so thick I’m suffocating in it. If I’m wrong. Fine. If I’m right. There’s nowhere I can go and nothing I can do. Just eyes open captivated by the sheer novelty of the event but overtaken by tangible dread We missed

What does winning look like? It looks like a god that we call our own, something that is so devoted, considers us so radiantly beautiful, loves us so deeply, that it would annihilate the entire universe before letting a single child suffer And the odds of getting there? Hahahaha

I’m realizing we’re going to skip straight over cybernetic modification and go straight into nanotechnological modification

Just imagine that. Seeing before your eyes the kind of transition people would call you crazy for speaking on. But knowing they need to hear it. But choosing not to bother with speaking it anyway This beautiful world. About to be ripped asunder for all intents. Hmm

In Darkness and the Light (1942), Olaf Stapledon predicted automated vehicles, tidal wave electricity, cryogenics facilities on a species wide scale, cybernetic enhancement (photoelectric brain mesh and radio telephone receiver in the mastoid bone) The man was *beyond* prescient

That moment when we begin applying restorative nanobots as a regular preventative medical therapy or treatment and people look in the mirror, a look of horror, as their tattoos begin to fade (before outright disappearing)

Apparently, Olaf also directly connected Star Maker (1937) to Last and First Men (1930). It’s incredible that this literary lore is just lost to time. The named books directly take place in the same world. What an Easter egg!
I have no one on this planet to share this with, being an ancient piece of literary lore that is now lost to time Just saying, in Last Men in London (1932), Olaf Stapledon directly hints at the story of Odd John (1935). In Odd John, he directly hints at Star Maker (1937) -
