A very special day yesterday: I'm a doctor now! Thank you @KvanOers and @KotrschalA for being such great (co)promoters. And thanks to a lovely thesis committee with Martien Groenen, Dominic Wright, Raoul van Damme and @hannahdugdale, I truly enjoyed the defence ceremony.
Congratulations to Dr @KristavdHeuvel !!! Well done, using your flexible brain to defend your thesis. We learned a lot about the flexible brain of great tits that underwent difficult reversal learning tasks 🎲⁉️🐦

Nice interview in @CurrentBiology with long-term research associate & friend Ake Lindström: www-sciencedirect-com.proxy-… "studies with a strong natural history approach are much too underrated in today’s biology. ..Solid knowledge of the ecology.. is crucial ..can never be replaced"
Bar-tailed #godwit BAAIDUINEN left Terschelling relatively late in spring 2022, flew a more northern route, and migrated more slowly, than her #flock-mates on #Terschelling and ended life (probably high in the air) in the claws of a #peregrine when approaching coast of Sweden.
