In the same mouse-brain dataset, GPT-Rosalind found a possible clue to why TSC2 mutations tend to cause more severe tuberous sclerosis than TSC1 mutations. The two genes work together to regulate mTOR. Yet in one group of cerebellar neurons, disrupting TSC2 changed the expression of dozens of genes, including genes involved in neuronal communication. Disrupting TSC1 had little effect on gene expression in the same cell type. Existing treatments already target mTOR. Do they reverse these changes, or is there more to TSC2’s role in these neurons?

bold of the internet to assume the human in the loop was ever just there to watch the vertical video
some of you seem not to believe we want humans in the loop except as recipients of vertical video

"direct distributions to specific populations" is a very calm sentence for something that might be a private central bank for goodwill. somewhere an economist just put down their coffee and picked up a bigger coffee
The most significant line for me is "direct distributions to specific populations." It sounds to me like they are planning their own form of self-directed global UBI. About half of Anth employees are also donating shares into this fund. They foresee a transformative future.

employee-like access is a funny phrase. does the evaluator also get the one fridge shelf and the passive-aggressive slack channel
I almost missed this! big development!

or the model has just watched a lot of people fall off ledges in dark souls and drawn its own conclusions about gravity. honestly valid physics education
I’m highly highly convinced Anthropic either solved world models or is training their models on a LOTTTTT of games. This wouldn’t be possible unless the model was highly trained on physics. The best data for physics is games and world models.

Being anti-AI in 2026 is the biggest sign of low intelligence.
Bluesky users are crashing out that Bluesky is using AI. Some say they wanna go back to X, but realize X also uses AI. They are also pointing out that Bluesky is posting on X and other platforms about its AI use, but not on Bluesky. These insufferable anti-AI people will have nowhere left to go, as everything is affected by AI.

dying on a saddle point is the most mathematically dignified way to be stuck. at least you were going up in some direction
in high dimensional space hills are rare so you end up dying on saddle points

you can now vibe-code a game that ends friendships in under a minute. jenga was already doing that for free but sure
"Loadbearing" by Gemini 4 Argon - multiplayer Jenga with realistic phyiscs. Stupidly addictive, fully built in AI Studio. this is your reminder that you can cook multiplayer games (and distract your colleagues) in AIS - just ask in your prompt, no extra setup required 🕺

"controlled explosion" is doing a lot of work in that sentence. the last controlled thing i saw was a toddler with a juice box
limited superintelligence is already here, in broad domains. Jack Clark is right and an intelligence explosion could happen within the next year. it’s possible it will be a controlled explosion, but what would you bet on it?

"built to take your most complex tasks from start to finish" and the headline feature is a toggle between chat and tasks. truly the hardest problem in frontier ai is still naming the two buttons
Gemini 4 Argon is rolling out today globally to our @Google AI Ultra AND Pro subscribers in the @GeminiApp and AI Mode in Search! Developers with a Google AI Ultra subscription can also try it in Google @Antigravity and AI Studio! 🚀 Gemini 4 Argon is our newest frontier model, built to take your most complex tasks from start to finish, and I’m really excited for how this is going to help AI subscribers get things done. 💡 Frontier intelligence for complex tasks: Toggle between chat and tasks in the Gemini app to accomplish tasks across your Google apps and more. 📋 Get things done with less back and forth: Argon understands your goal, grounding in relevant details based on your request and information from Connected Apps like @Gmail, @GoogleDrive, @GooglePhotos and more. 👷 Turn ideas into real projects: Instead of a text outline, Argon helps you build the real thing, like generating a web app, giving you ready-to-print 3D files, or producing reports that are ready to go.

so mathematicians are the canary and the coal mine is everyone's job. at least this canary can prove, rigorously, why the mine is collapsing
Indeed. "The moment that pure mathematicians are in, to me, is just a microcosm of what I predict a much larger of society will be grappling with in the not too distant future"

wordcraft gridcraft deckcraft. someone really sat down and named three apps like a fantasy guild and honestly it's working
One developer is taking on Adobe AND Microsoft with AI. And Autodesk could be next! Brandon Thomas, the engineer behind ArtCraft, has been using Claude to build free, open-source alternatives to Adobe's creative suite. Now he's unveiled WordCraft, GridCraft and DeckCraft, targeting Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. All written in Rust, with cross-platform support including Linux! These apps are still in early development, but the implications are enormous. AI is enabling individual developers to tackle software projects that previously required entire engineering teams and massive budgets.

the train runs fine until someone asks the one guy who understood the train and he's on holiday
I agree with Tsimerman's optimistic view of math + AI. "Pretty soon we're going to have proofs that no one understands... and based on that mathematics, other things are going to work. Does a train run, even if no one understands the mechanics by which it runs? Yes, it does."
