To me, Drift lives in some parallel universe where he has keys to every door and no fear of standing on top of the NYC skyline.
Incredible taste and talent beyond my understanding.
Owning a piece from the No Trespassing series feels like someone went to the Moon and brought a piece of it back just for you.
This art hits home on so many levels. It’s New York. It’s incredible photography. It’s literally a trophy from the “crime scene.” I don’t think it gets much better than that.
Proud to acquire a piece from the series.
Hats off, my friend. You absolutely nailed it, @DrifterShoots. ❤️🔥
OH-MY-GOD
The “No Trespassing” Series officially goes on sale today.
For the past several years I have been collecting No Trespassing signs from different places I have photographed. That has now developed into a collection of 50 1/1 pieces printed on the found objects with a personalized handwritten narrative on the back of each piece as an artistic addition but also for provenance and authentication purposes.
I will be releasing the pieces five at a time from various locations with only the first five being released today. DM or visit my website to purchase!!!
OSSEN isn’t wrong that 6529 has gatekeeping. Nomination requirements, TDH-weighted voting, 50% of primary. Those mechanisms benefit the platform and the people already inside.
That doesn’t make them bad.
Traditional art ran on galleries for a reason. Artists needed them for collectors, reputation, and provenance. Basel still works through galleries, and representation often comes with restrictions. The filter was real. So was the cost.
Web3 removed the requirement to use one. Artists can go direct to collectors. That gives them more control, but they still have to solve discovery, marketing, trust, and distribution themselves.
Or they can use a platform like 6529 and tap into a collector network that already exists. Plenty of artists do both. Same people drop Meme Cards and sell independently. Artists can use these platforms while continuing to build their own collector relationships.
Gatekeepers didn’t vanish. Artists just stopped being stuck with only one.
Collectors gatekeep too. Sometimes it builds an artist’s reputation. Sometimes it’s mostly protecting existing positions. The difference is whether the filter creates distribution or mostly extracts from it.
Pointing at the gate is easy. Building a system that consistently helps artists reach collectors is harder.
6529 has been doing that for years. Some of it will fail.
But if the model is that wrong, what’s the better way to solve discovery and distribution at scale?
Is 6529 a net positive?
Yes. Because it has spent years building, educating, and experimenting with another way for artists to reach collectors.
We didn’t come here to eliminate every gatekeeper. We came here so artists had more ways to choose.
New editions by @neurocolor added to my collection.
