Decameter radio observations have always been very difficult due to the ionosphere. @ChristianGroe18 et al. present a strategy to correct for the ionosphere, which allows them to make sharp decameter radio images from the surface of the Earth. nature.com/articles/s41550-0…

Big announcement on the HPF blog: our HPF exoplanet survey has discovered a Neptune-mass exoplanet on a close-in orbit around a very low-mass star. This planet challenges our understanding of planet formation around low-mass stars: sites.psu.edu/hzpf/2023/11/3…

We're already starting to see possible Dutch coalitions put forward in the wake of yesterday's election.
So here's a run-through of the permutations.

#TBT to Karl Jansky’s accidental discovery of radio emission from the heart of our galaxy, which was widely publicized this week in 1933. This kicked off the field of radio astronomy, and we now know our galactic center houses a supermassive black hole. #BlackHoleWeek

ALT Karl Guthe Jansky joined the staff of the Bell Telephone Laboratories in Holmdel, New Jersey, in 1928. While hunting for radio static for Bell Labs, Jansky made the surprise discovery of radio waves coming from the center of our Milky Way galaxy. In this photo, he is standing under a rough map of the night sky and pointing to the constellation Cassiopeia. The wavy lines track the radio emissions he discovered on the chart paper, which also line up with the disk of our galaxy, the Milky Way.

New Physics 🧵! Ludwig Boltzmann was not just a father of Statistical Physics but also a master of Thermodynamics. That’s how he got his name on the Stefan-Boltzmann law. If you allow me, I would love to walk you through a magic moment in physics history. /1
