TURKEY/IRAN: Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan to Hold High-Level Security Talks in Tehran
Senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan are expected to meet Iranian leaders in Tehran amid escalating regional tensions.
Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalın are expected to attend, according to Iranian officials.
The talks follow renewed Houthi missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia and growing concerns over regional security.
The meeting is particularly significant because Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed the Mecca Mutual Defense Agreement in August, under which an armed attack on one member is considered an attack on all.
Pakistan has ratified the agreement, while ratification is still pending in Turkey's parliament.
Pakistan continues to mediate between Washington and Tehran, but Iran reportedly refuses further negotiations until its demands are met.
The central question: Can Tehran reach an understanding with three regional powers increasingly coordinating their defense policies?

TURKEY/Commercial Property Slump Deepens as Small Businesses Struggle
Turkey's real estate downturn is spreading to commercial property.
Commercial property sales fell 5.1% YoY to 135,543 units in January–September 2026, while second-hand shop sales plunged 8.6% as small businesses struggled with high borrowing costs, weak consumer demand and rising operating expenses.
Yet new commercial property sales rose 4.2%, with their market share hitting a five-year high of 30%. Mortgage-financed transactions surged 61.8%, albeit from a low base.
Foreign buyers are retreating: their share of commercial property purchases has fallen to just 0.73%.
The takeaway: Turkey's commercial property market is increasingly divided between cash-strapped small businesses and wealthier investors seeking inflation protection. Falling second-hand sales suggest that the real economy remains under considerable strain.
Right on the nose. Liberalize visas and Turkish population will drop a good 10 million (the rest can't afford tickets to Europe)
Man, you're really worked up over this, take a shot of brandy and watch something funny. Regardless of who done what to whom, I just can't rev up the enthusiasm to be so angry
Replying to @lacctaruss @AtillaEng
Let's talk about barbarians then and tell us what happened to the greek population of Eastern Thrace did they vanish or the Pontic Greeks of Anatolia who slaughtered them and who did the same thing to the Greeks of Smyrna of Constantinople did they evaporate or killed themselves?
Not that much killing, but making them an offer to leave that they couldn't refuse. Who invaded Cyprus? Not us. Read Treaty of Guarantee signed on 16 August 1960 in Nicosia
Replying to @lacctaruss @AtillaEng
That was your plan all along even before the wars. So basically you killed your own citizens because they weren't Muslims. In Cyprus you invaded it illegally.
The Human Condition is funny, Man. Only our species can turn this heavenly planet in a Hellhole
Replying to @lacctaruss @AtillaEng
You're in no position to demand answers when you don't give even one yourself. Now we owe you our existence too that's why you enslaved us is this
supposed to be funny?
Good question, data doesn't answer it, but 99% of graduates from prestigious foreign-run high schools have decided to study abroad two years ago, most recent data I have.
Replying to @AtillaEng
Because degree granting institutions have proliferated, would it be appropriate to run the numbers for graduates of, say, the top 10 universities ? Is the ‘brain drain’ more seriously affecting the country’s *best* graduates ? Might their expatriation percentage be higher ?
TURKEY/Erdogan Fires Islamist Adviser Over Azerbaijan Hijab Dispute
President Erdogan has dismissed senior adviser Oktay Saral following his criticism of Azerbaijan's ban on Islamic headscarves in schools.
On October 13, Saral condemned the restrictions as an unacceptable violation of students' right to education.
Journalist Talat Atilla reports that Saral confirmed his dismissal, saying he had left on Erdogan's instructions and held no grudges.
Asked whether his criticism of Azerbaijan caused his removal, Saral replied: "Yes, it appears so."
Will sacrificing Saral appease Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev?
The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Ankara has invited Aliyev to attend COP31 in Turkey. His attendance would be a strong signal that bilateral tensions are easing.
If he stays away, the diplomatic rift may be far from over—and further personnel changes within Erdogan's government cannot be ruled out.
Ahh, great. Finally a post from a Russian ultranationalist in my feed. I usually get the lunatic fringe from Greece and Armenia (and Turkey)
