A Gen X morning routine is coffee, silence, and the quiet calculation of how many hours until you can be left alone again.

Not kidding when I say, a lot of the misery of modern life derives from the fact that we live on computers when we should be living in villages bordered by woods, canopied by stars, hearing the owl shriek in the night and waking to the clear ringing of bells.
One of our local churches decided to start ringing the bells again this year, and it absolutely slaps. Those medieval folks were on to something using bells to keep track of time.

Somehow I had never seen a bumblebee pollinate a passionflower before! 🐝 Look how much pollen collects on her back as she drinks the nectar: the gap in the flower that she’s moving through looks perfectly tailored to the body of a large bee. You can imagine that a smaller thing like a honeybee might visit to drink the nectar without actually catching any pollen and therefore would not be an effective pollinator of this plant.

We’ve slowly stripped away everything that once gave a person’s life joy and beauty. Museums are closing, literacy collapsing, myths and fairy-tales largely no longer taught. National parks are being carved up by developers. More people gamble than read.
the fundamental man of tomorrow will only know sports betting, two video games, working in "finance". will be dependent on AI apps for food and water, and will possess reactionary politics based on how podcasters tell him to feel about the hollow void at the centre of his soul
