The education institution is an industry era relic.
The software industry has lead the way into new forms of credentials and reputation. Programmers have already demonstrated that they can learn together while working on meaningful projects. Platforms like Github ha played an important role for collaboration but also as a repository where people's past work is stored and made visible.
