This Halloween I review a movie that many know of but few remember the name of: Idle Hands from 1999.
Enjoy the written review through the link below π
ADHD people trying to overthink a simple question in the comments is why psychology should not be handled by the nuts.
Today Blake found out the hard way that not every story needs a dedicated villain.
The bear was symbolic, the plot revolved around the curse, and this is normal in the fairy tales it was based around.
These super long term writers are always clueless about storytelling.
I recall a friend taking her kids to see Brave when it came out. I asked her what she thought of it and she said (paraphrasing) "the movie was good, they just forgot to put a villain in it!" I'm always reminded of that when I see clips like this one shared around.
The witch doesn't really fit as the villainβshe gives Merida the proverbial rope to hang herself with, but that's about it. Maybe it's the mother, but she's got Merida's best interests at heart and knows better, besides. Or maybe Merida's both the protagonist and the villain, that'd be a twist, but I think she spends too much of the movie trying to make up for her mistake for that to apply, either.
Brave feels like a film that needed more time to cook. As-is, it's fine, you can watch and enjoy parts of it...but you can also eat boiled steak if you're hungry enough.
No title yet, but one thing has been decided for my magic school story: a Nazi aesthetic will have my Malfoid go from peak to perfect.
This is what bugs me about fake Christians like Strawb and her simps.
They do something wrong: forgive and forget.
Anyone else hurts their feelings: demonize and dox.
They keep doing remakes because everything old has to be changed and forgotten .
It gives them an excuse to suppress the originals and it makes it so they make money from the people who'd reject a new shit installment.
Shouldn't there be more videos of white people doing it though?
There's advice on how to make money? Lol
But yes, this is why I tell people to stop trying to make money with writing.
Instead make money, and happened to be a writer.
Did he smash the pitcher on someone's head at the end?
Man, it's sad we can't dress as famous video game characters for Halloween anymore without getting harassed.
All true. Especially when something is trending and they don't dare to speak against it.
Hell, they don't even dare to read it. They just go with whatever others said.
I think #BookTok overhypes a lot of the books they review.
I feel they do this for a few of reasons:
1. All shills - want free books or author access.
2. To help their own book sales.
3. Want to seem more intelligent & cultures than they really are.
So she's super into Nightmare Before Christmas but finds Halloween as the devil's work?
Doesn't make any sense but that's what happens when she's larping as a Christian.
Strawb being a chronic gooner turned super Christian isn't surprising.
Online circles are filled with people trying to act holier than thou while they continue to sin their pants off.
She's still a gooner, just not publicly.
Didn't realize @darlingstrawbie used to share distribute Degenerate P*rn images and smut.π The hypocrisy is wild
Yeah the drama going from shit flinging to doxxing is ridiculous.
Strawb and Rev ended up as the worst group in this pointless event.
I have a serious message for @darlingstrawbie, @Rev_says_desu, and @Tectone
The Ember Paradox controversy has now escalated beyond internet arguments.
We have documented screenshots from Kiwi Farms showing that the controversy was being actively discussed, that Tectone's coverage was circulated within the forum, and that a participant subsequently attempted to expose Ember's real-world identity.
This is no longer a hypothetical concern about what might happen when an online controversy gets out of control. Someone has actually attempted to compromise the privacy of the person behind the avatar.
Now, let me be absolutely clear.
I am not claiming that Strawb, Rev, or Tectone personally organized or authorized that exposure. We have not established that, yet.
But they are responsible for their own public statements, the accusations they choose to amplify, and how they respond when those accusations become part of a controversy that has escalated into doxxing.
Serious allegations about sexual motivations and private misconduct require serious evidence. Repeating those allegations to large audiences does not make them true.
At this point, I believe all three should publicly and unequivocally condemn the attempted exposure of Ember's identity, discourage their audiences from participating in harassment, and make clear that nobody should be targeted in real life over this controversy.
You do not have to like Ember. You do not have to agree with her. You don't even have to withdraw legitimate criticism.
But you should be able to condemn doxxing without qualification.
I am preserving the publicly documented evidence, including the chronology of the controversy, the statements made by prominent commentators, and the subsequent attempted identity exposure.
That evidence will remain available for Ember, authorized legal counsel, platform safety personnel, or law enforcement should further misconduct or harm warrant investigation.
Accountability is not harassment. Evidence is not intimidation. And freedom of expression does not exempt anyone from scrutiny of their own conduct.
Whatever anyone thinks of Ember Paradox, nobody deserves to have their privacy or physical safety endangered over an internet controversy.
This needs to stop.
