We always ask each other "What's the first line of your novel," but nobody asks what the 5th line on page 37 is. I want to know what the 5th line on page 37 of your book is. Here's mine: "For instance, I remembered meeting a woman named Anastasia in New York at CBGB in 1975."

My short story “Midnight Oil” has been accepted for publication with Unlikely Stories @USdotorg !! I had so much hope for this piece, as it’s quite near and dear to me, and went through several workshops. It should be out in the world by the end of the month 🫶🏻

reading really is so helpful for writing. it's like "oh right a sentence can start like that" or "omg that word i want to use that word" or "wow do i hate this book let me go write something against this"
