I was reading Roberto Calasso's Le nozze di Cadmo e Armonia today and came across the story of Icarius' death. There was this one line that really stuck with me: "Thus the dance around the goat is also the dance of the goats." Basically, Icarius killed a goat, put on its skin and danced to celebrate. And then one day, he ended up getting killed by other shepherds in much the same way. It instantly made me think of Valko being removed by PPG. Those CDGs celebrating his removal are just like Icarius. The ones celebrating someone else's sacrifice might end up being sacrificed themselves one day. And the goat's tragedy just keeps repeating itself. When you're dancing around in the skin of a dead goat, celebrating its death, do you ever think that one day you might end up just like it?
