I wish Maricopa County Arizona Vital records would take note, of how fast and efficient King County Vital records is in Seattle. In less than 10 total minutes with an uploaded doc, my request was approved and processed. I needed my son’s birth record in Phoenix, and it took a week to even be processed! Get your stuff together AZ!

UPDATE from the Overgaard, AZ tornado damage path - tornado has been rated EF2. Radar suggested it could have been EF3 strength which would be the strongest ever in Arizona. Spoke to a resident whose home was destroyed and they had no warning. Just bang and home destroyed.

A tornado ripped through there around 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

A supercell looms behind these strikes southwest of Chino Valley. The low structure moving over the mountain there was spooky in the dark. This was shot at 4am and would go tornado warned 30 minutes or so later, and eventually move into Flagstaff with intense circulation. #azwx

TORNADO OUTBREAK POSSIBLE again today across central and eastern Arizona including Phoenix to Flagstaff and east!
Team Dominator is activating storm chase mode once again today targeting the Show Low to Winslow area. A number of supercells are forecast to form in an environment of strong low-level shear and greater instability than yesterday.

Arizona had 12 tornado warnings yesterday, the most in a day there since 2010.
Now Phoenix, Flagstaff, Prescott and Show Low are under severe storm watches until 10 and 11 AM Arizona time, with hail up to 2 inches possible.

Rotation with the Overgaard, Arizona cell strengthened markedly around 6:50 p.m.
Interestingly, the circulation was briefly strongest right before it reached State Highway 260. Then it plowed through town as a significant tornado and weakened thereafter.

A SIGNIFICANT, likely EF2+ tornado hit Overgaard, Arizona on Wednesday evening around 7:02 p.m.
Lots of folks have been asking about the track the tornado took. Tornadoes are inherently small compared to radar pixels, giving us only a coarse glimpse into the broader path of the storm's spin. We won't know the precise path until our NWS colleagues conduct a survey.
But using radar data from KFSX, we can try to identify the neighborhoods that most likely saw impacts. This is probably the strongest tornado to impact Arizona in more than 15 years.
