🎇 Thank you for an amazing Showcase Weekend! 80 years ago, young railfans spontaneously bought a chartered streetcar to save it from ruin. Today, we're proud to stand in front of it as volunteers of the museum it created. Passion transcends generations. Thank you, everybody!

Working at the @BAERA_WRM Archives yields many oddities, but none like this prototype Northern Electric Ry. steel car! Designed on Oct. 9, 1908, this McKeen-esque motor-combine would have been the N.E.'s first steel car. Evidently, it was never built. Maybe for the better.

Toronto streetcars once ran in San Francisco. We owned one of them. In the late 70s, Muni acquired 11 PCC streetcars from Toronto. Originally from Kansas City. "Red Rocket" #1190 was sold to us in 1979. It left in 2006. In our 80th Anniversary Documentary, see footage of it!

🍇 Before the Wine Train, tourists rode electric trains to Napa. From Vallejo's ferry slips, the Napa Valley Route hurried commuters and wine country tourists to Napa, St. Helena, and Calistoga. Abandoned in 1937, footage of these trains is very rare. So, enjoy this video!

🎞 At our museum, some moments live forever. Aboard our trains, the past comes alive. You hear the same sounds, feel the same movement, and watch the same scenery as people did, 114-years ago — all on the same trains they rode. History isn't lost here. It simply moves on rails.

Did you know North Berkeley had a railyard? Berryman — Rose & Shattuck Ave. — was a 6-track storage yard for the electric "Red Trains." Built in 1878 and electrified in 1911, it stored trains between the morning/evening rush! It was demolished in 1941. c. 1933
